Yes, There Are Cool Recliners in 2025—Here’s Proof

This isn’t your grandparent's recliner. I tested the viral Homebody sectional—and now I get the hype.

I’ll admit it: I didn’t think I was a reclining sofa kind of girl. I live in a loft with an open floor plan, and the last thing I wanted was a bulky couch taking up too much space. You know the type—oversized leather, cup holders, and that aggressively dated vibe. After months of testing Homebody’s best seller, I can honestly say I’ve been converted.

First Impressions: White Glove Delivery and a Chic First Look

Homebody handled the delivery like a dream. Truly white glove—they brought everything in, assembled it quickly, and left no mess behind. I chose the Luxe 3-Seat Chaise in the color Coconut (a soft off-white linen), and it looked even better in person. The lines are clean, the silhouette is modern, and the overall vibe is chic but not try-hard. It complements my open living space beautifully without overwhelming it.

Comfort Level: Cloud-Like Seating and a Recline That Surprised Me

I can’t overstate how plush these seats are. My last sofa was stylish but far from soft, so the comfort level here feels like a total upgrade.

The recline feature? Quietly genius. It’s incredibly discreet—no clunky levers, no visible mechanisms. And it doesn’t need to be pulled away from the wall to use which makes it flexible for nearly any floor plan. When you recline, the sofa practically floats you back to 155 degrees. It even has a mode called Zero Gravity Wellness Mode™ that I now use every single night.

Tech Touch: The Charger I Never Knew I Needed

Each seat that reclines has the built-in USB and USB-C charger and this little detail has been surprisingly impactful. I no longer scramble for an outlet or have to snake a charger cord across the living room. I plug in, recline, and scroll in peace. This is undoubtedly a 10/10 feature—I don’t think I can go back to a non-charging sofa now.

Family Friendly Without Sacrificing Style

As a toddler mom, I’m always thinking about durability. The fact that the fabric is stain-resistant, and the covers are removable and washable makes this reclining sofa feel like it was made with parents in mind. My toddler has spilled snacks and juice, and it’s all come right out.

A Note on the Middle Seat

I ordered a configuration where only the two outer seats recline. The middle seat has a removable headrest that… let’s just say doesn’t always stay put. It’s a small issue, but worth noting if you’re considering the same setup. If you go for a version where all the seats recline, this won’t be a problem at all, and that is the only version that I’d recommend.

Pros & Cons

Pros:

  • Chic and discreet reclining design
  • Extremely comfortable and soft seating
  • Built-in charging ports
  • Washable, stain-resistant fabric
  • White glove delivery and easy assembly

Cons:

  • Removable headrest on middle seat can feel loose
  • Higher price point (though justified by quality)

I never thought I’d be writing a love letter to a reclining sofa, but here we are. Homebody has managed to take something historically seen as dated and masculine and reimagine it for modern, design-forward homes. If you’re looking for a sofa that merges luxury, tech, comfort, and style, the Luxe Sofa from Homebody is it. And yes, it reclines—beautifully.
