Biscuits are a comfort food that can be enjoyed any time of the day. This simple 3-ingredient recipe is perfect for those who want a delicious homemade treat without the fuss.
Preheat your oven to 450°F (232°C). A hot oven is crucial for getting the biscuits to rise properly and develop a golden, crispy exterior.
Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease it with butter or cooking spray. This will prevent the biscuits from sticking and ensure an even bake.
Measure out 2 cups of self-rising flour and place it in a large mixing bowl. Self-rising flour already contains baking powder and salt, which simplifies the recipe.
Cut 1/4 cup of cold butter into small cubes and add it to the flour. Using a pastry cutter or your fingers, work the butter into the flour until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
Pour 1 cup of heavy cream into the flour and butter mixture. Stir gently with a spoon or spatula until just combined.
Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface. Gently knead the dough a few times to bring it together.
Using a rolling pin, roll the dough to about 1/2-inch thickness. Be gentle to avoid compressing the dough too much, which can prevent the biscuits from rising properly.
Use a biscuit cutter or a round cookie cutter to cut out the biscuits. Press straight down without twisting to ensure the biscuits rise evenly.
Bake the biscuits in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes or until they are golden brown on top.
Serve warm with butter, jam or your favorite toppings.
These simple yet delicious biscuits are perfect for breakfast, brunch or as a side for any meal.
