Making a simple and nutritious 3-ingredient cereal bar for toddlers is a great way to provide a healthy snack.
2 cups of cereal (such as Cheerios or Rice Krispies),1/2 cup of nut butter (peanut or almond) and 1/4 cup of honey or a suitable sweetener.
Measure out 2 cups of cereal and place them in a large mixing bowl. This will be the base of your bars, providing crunch and texture.
In a small saucepan, combine 1/2 cup of nut butter and 1/4 cup of honey. Heat the mixture on low, stirring constantly until it becomes smooth.
Once the nut butter and honey mixture is smooth, remove it from the heat. Pour the mixture over the cereal in the mixing bowl.
Using a spatula, mix the cereal and the nut butter-honey mixture thoroughly. Ensure that all the cereal pieces are evenly coated with the mixture.
Transfer the cereal mixture to the prepared baking dish lined with parchment paper. Use the spatula to spread the mixture evenly in the dish.
Place the baking dish in the refrigerator and let it chill for at least 1 hour. This will help the bars set and become firm.
Once they're chilled, remove from fridge and use a sharp knife to cut the mixture into bars or squares, depending on your preference.
Serve the cereal bars as a snack or part of a meal. They are perfect for on-the-go snacking, lunchboxes or as a quick breakfast option for busy mornings.
These bars are easy to make, require minimal ingredients and are perfect for little hands.
