Feb. 5 was named National Nutella Day by a vlogger in 2007. This year marks the 60th anniversary of the popular chocolate spread.
If you're looking to celebrate this cherished holiday with a few sweet treats, here are some quick and easy recipes.
10 Tbsp Nutella 1 egg 1/4 all-purpose flour
Preheat oven to 350F and line a 4x4 baking pan with parchment paper. Make sure to leave some access parchment paper over the sides, as this will make the brownies easier to remove once cooked.
Combine all three ingredients in a bowl and whisk until well mixed. Pour batter into the baking pan and use a spatula to smooth out if necessary.
Cook for around 10-15 minutes. You will know the brownies are done if you can insert a toothpick and it comes out clean. Allow to cool before removing from pan, cutting and serving.
1 Package of store-bought puff pastry 1 cup Nutella 1 egg
Heat oven to 350F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Make sure the pastry dough is not frozen solid, but still cold.
Lightly flour a surface and roll out the dough. Once the dough is completely flat, use a pizza cutter to trim along the folding lines. You'll end up with 3 triangles, which you will cut again into 2 long triangles, giving you 6 total.
Place a spoonful of nutella on each triangle and spread it out along the dough, but leave a small border along the edge.
Roll up the triangles, starting at the wide end and place the dough on the cooking sheet. Turn the sides in a little to get the ideal croissant shape.
Whisk together an egg and brush over top of the croissants. You can add a tablespoon of water, which will help thin out the egg and make it easier to spread, but this is optional.
Bake for around 20 minutes. One done, the croissants will be a golden brown color and have a flakey texture. Ideally, these should be served immediately but they can stored in a sealed container.
