Making homemade treats can be a fun and rewarding experience. These 3-ingredient pumpkin dog treats are both easy to prepare and delicious for your furry friend.
Start by gathering the three main ingredients: 1 cup of canned pumpkin puree, 1 cup of rolled oats and 1/2 cup of natural peanut butter.
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). This will ensure that your treats bake evenly and achieve a nice golden color.
In a mixing bowl, combine the pumpkin puree, peanut butter and rolled oats. Use a spoon or spatula to mix them until a sticky dough forms.
Knead it gently for a minute or two until it’s smooth and pliable. This will help the oats absorb the moisture from the pumpkin and peanut butter.
Using a rolling pin, roll out the dough to about 1/4 inch thick. If the dough is too sticky, you can sprinkle a little more flour on the surface.
Using cookie cutters in fun shapes like bones or pumpkins, cut out the treats from the rolled dough.
After cutting them out, place the 3-ingredient dog treats on a baking pan, leaving some space between each piece.
Bake for about 20-25 minutes, or until they are golden brown and firm to the touch.
After baking, remove the treats from the oven and allow them to cool for a few minutes. Then transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely.
Once your furry friend gets a taste of these homemade pumpkin treats, you’ll both enjoy the bonding time that comes with training and treating.
With just three simple ingredients, you can treat your dog to something special.
