Baked pork chops are a delicious and easy-to-make dish that results in juicy, tender meat. This recipe uses simple ingredients and basic steps for a flavorful, hearty meal.
Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Ensuring the oven is fully heated before baking the pork chops helps them cook evenly and retain moisture.
Drizzle both sides of the pork chops with olive oil. Rub the chops with garlic powder, paprika, dried thyme, salt and pepper. Ensure they are evenly coated.
Lightly grease a baking pan or line it with baking paper for easy cleanup. Place the seasoned pork chops in the pan, ensuring they are in a single layer and not overlapping.
Cover the pan with aluminum foil to prevent the pork chops from drying out during the initial baking process. This will lock in moisture, resulting in juicier chops.
Place the covered pan in the preheated oven. Bake the pork chops for 20 minutes to allow the inside to start cooking evenly.
After 20 minutes, carefully remove the foil. This allows the pork chops to develop a nice golden crust as they finish baking uncovered.
Continue baking them uncovered for an additional 10 to 15 minutes, depending on the thickness of the chops. The internal temperature should reach 145°F (63°C).
Use a meat thermometer to ensure the pork chops are fully cooked. Insert it into the thickest part of the chop – it should read 145°F.
Serve your baked pork chops with sides like roasted vegetables, mashed potatoes, or a fresh salad. The versatility of pork chops makes them perfect for a variety of sides.
This simple yet delicious recipe is sure to be a hit at any meal.
