When it comes to Easter desserts, few treats are as timeless – or as delicious – as carrot cake. It’s the perfect springtime indulgence!
But this year, why not take your carrot cake to the next level with some festive, creative decorations? We’ve gathered a basket full of Easter carrot cake decorating ideas that are as fun to make as they are to eat.
Make a cute nest from toasted coconut for a centerpiece-style topping. All you'll need is toasted coconut, malted candy eggs and a dollop of frosting to anchor your masterpiece.
You'll need: - Orange and green buttercream frosting - Piping bags - Small round or star piping tip (e.g. #2 or #5 for carrot body, leaf tip like #352 or #67 for leaves)
Fill a piping bag with orange frosting and another with green. Using the former, pipe small carrot shapes (like a short teardrop) around the cake top or sides. Use the latter to pipe little leafy tops above each carrot.
You'll need: - Green shredded coconut - Oreo crumbs - Candy or fondant vegetables - Frosting
Sprinkle a layer of oreo crumbs over the frosting to create a “dirt” garden bed. Press the veggies into the cookie “soil” in neat little rows like a garden patch. Add grass tufts between the rows for extra cuteness and dimension.
For a rustic, elegant look, decorate the sides or top of your cake with pressed edible flowers. All you'll need is flowers, a book for pressing and some piping gel or frosting to adhere the flowers to the cake.
Use jelly beans, candy eggs or confetti sprinkles around the edge of the bottom or top of the cake to create a colorful border.
Create cute bunny ears using cardstock or fondant and insert them on top of the cake. Use a toothpick to secure. For extra sparkle, paint on some edible glitter.
