National Gingerbread Latte Day is Dec. 15. This holiday celebrates the popular winter drink that puts thousands in the holiday spirit every year.
Celebrate this national day or wind down on a cool winter evening this season by making this warm and spicy gingerbread chai tea latte recipe at home.
1/2 cup water 1/2 cup brown sugar 1 tbsp molasses 1 tsp ground ginger
1/2 tsp ground cinnamon 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg 1/4 tsp ground cloves 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
1 cup water 2 chai tea bags 1/2 cup milk (dairy or non-dairy)
1–2 tbsp gingerbread syrup (adjust to taste) Whipped cream (optional) Ground cinnamon or nutmeg for garnish (optional)
Combine the water, brown sugar, molasses, ginger, cinnamon, nutmeg and cloves in a small saucepan.
Bring the mixture to a boil over medium heat, then reduce to a simmer. Stir until the sugar dissolves completely.
Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract. Let cool and strain if needed.
Boil 1 cup of water and steep 2 chai tea bags for 5 minutes. Remove tea bags and set aside.
In a small saucepan or using a frother, heat 1/2 cup milk until steaming. Froth the milk for a creamy texture if desired.
In a mug, combine the brewed chai tea with 1–2 tablespoons of gingerbread syrup. Pour in the frothed milk. Stir gently to combine.
Top with whipped cream if desired. Sprinkle ground cinnamon or nutmeg on top for extra festiveness.
