Jan. 15 marked National Kombucha, or "Booch" Day, founded by KeVita in 2019.
Kombucha is a fermented tea that has been enjoyed for centuries, originating in East Asia.
Although kombucha is a healthier and natural beverage, it is possible to drink too much.
According to Healthline, it's best to consume two 8 oz servings a day to see its benefits without overconsumption.
Kombucha often contains added sugars. When consumed too much, added sugars can lead to obesity, diabetes, heart diseases and fatty liver.
Kombucha also contains antioxidants which combat free radicals in the body, potentially reducing stress and illnesses.
Even though we want to remove bacteria from our system, our bodies also have good bacteria that help strengthen our immune system and gut health.
If you have a weakened immune system, it is recommended that you consume kombucha in small amounts.
If you’re new to the world of kombucha, when consumed moderately, you’re in for a treat. There are an endless number of health benefits from hydration to detoxification.
For the healthiest option, you can even make your own kombucha.
