Keeping your washing machine clean ensures it works efficiently and lasts longer. Follow these simple steps to keep yours in top shape.
You'll need: white vinegar, baking soda, a microfiber cloth, a scrub brush and an optional toothbrush for detailed scrubbing.
Before cleaning, ensure your washer is totally empty.
Remove the detergent drawer then soak in warm, soapy water. Scrub with a toothbrush to remove any residue. Rinse and dry before reinserting.
Wipe down the seal with a cloth soaked in white vinegar, paying special attention to any mold or mildew spots. For stubborn areas, use a toothbrush to scrub gently.
Pour 2 cups of vinegar into the detergent drawer. Run a hot water cycle. The vinegar will help dissolve any detergent buildup and disinfect the drum.
After the vinegar cycle is complete, sprinkle half a cup of baking soda (a natural deodorizer) directly into the drum. Run another hot water cycle.
Remove the filter and soak it in warm, soapy water. Use a brush to clean it thoroughly, gathering any lint, hair, or debris. Rinse the filter and replace it.
Once the cycles are done, use a clean, damp cloth to wipe down the inside of the drum. This ensures that all cleaning agents are removed so it's ready for your next load.
After cleaning, leave the washing machine door and detergent drawer open so they can air out.
Congratulations! You've successfully cleaned your washing machine.
