How To Make Your Own Granola From Scratch

While you can buy granola easily in grocery stores, there are health and financial benefits to making your own at home.

The best part is it’s fairly simple to prepare and lasts for up to three months. Follow this simple recipe and you'll be snacking in no time!

3 cups rolled oats 1 cup of each: nuts roughly chopped; seeds; dry fruit of your choice 1/2 cup honey or maple syrup

Ingredients

1/2 cup coconut oil or olive oil 1 tsp of each: vanilla extract and cinnamon 1/2 tsp of lite salt

Ingredients

In a large bowl, combine the rolled oats, chopped nuts, seeds, ground cinnamon and salt.

In a small saucepan, heat the honey (or maple syrup), coconut oil (or olive oil) and vanilla extract over low heat until melted and combined. While you are doing this, preheat your oven to 300 degrees Fahrenheit.

Pour the wet mixture over the dry ingredients, and stir thoroughly.

Spread the mixture evenly on the prepared baking sheet. Bake for 20-25 minutes.

Stir halfway through, until the granola is golden brown and fragrant.

If you want to make granola bars, don't stir the granola. Instead, let the mixture cool completely in the pan before cutting.

Granola Bar

Store the granola in an airtight container at room temperature or put it in the freezer.

Adding extracts, seasonings and spices will alter the flavor. Choose between cardamom, cinnamon, coconut flakes, lemon zest, nutmeg, orange zest, pumpkin spice and vanilla extract.
