Let's learn to craft the perfect Manhattan cocktail in minutes. A classic blend of whiskey, vermouth, and bitters awaits.
Gather your rye whiskey or bourbon, sweet vermouth, Angostura bitters, and garnish (if using).
Fill your mixing glass or cocktail shaker with ice cubes. This will chill your drink as you mix it.
Pour 2 oz (60 ml) of rye whiskey or bourbon (can be either or depending on your preference) into the mixing glass.
The next ingredient you're going to add is Sweet Vermouth. Pour 1 oz (30 ml) of sweet vermouth into the mixing glass.
Add 2-3 dashes of Angostura bitters to the mixing glass. Adjust the amount according to your preference for bitterness.
Using a stirring spoon, gently stir the ingredients in the mixing glass for about 30 seconds. This will chill and dilute the cocktail while also mixing the flavors together.
If desired, prepare your cocktail glass by chilling it beforehand or filling it with ice water to chill it while you prepare the cocktail.
Once properly stirred, strain the cocktail from the mixing glass into your chilled cocktail glass. Use a strainer to catch any ice cubes or large pieces of ice.
Garnish your Manhattan cocktail with a maraschino cherry or a twist of orange peel. This adds a touch of flavor and visual appeal to the drink.
Your classic Manhattan cocktail is now ready to be enjoyed! Sip and savor its rich, complex flavors.
Raise your glass and toast to the timeless elegance of the Manhattan cocktail.
