Here is how to make mummy hot dogs. This Halloween recipe is simple, kid-friendly and a cute way to bake something with your family for spooky season.
8 hot dogs 1 package of crescent roll dough (or puff pastry dough) 1 egg (optional, for egg wash) Mustard or ketchup (for eyes)
Before you begin prepping, preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
Roll out the crescent roll dough on a clean surface. Do not pull the dough apart, but pinch any seams together to form one smooth sheet.
Cut the dough into thin strips, about 1/4-inch wide, using a knife or pizza cutter.
Take a strip of dough and start wrapping it around each hot dog. Leave a small gap near the top for the "face."
Wrap them unevenly to create a "mummy" look, with some parts thicker than others. Repeat for all the hot dogs.
For a golden, shiny finish, whisk an egg and lightly brush it over the dough-wrapped hot dogs.
Place the wrapped hot dogs on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake for about 12-15 minutes, or until the dough is golden brown.
Once the mummy hot dogs are baked and slightly cooled, use a toothpick to dot mustard or ketchup as eyes in the gap you left for the face.
Serve with additional sauces of your choice for dipping and enjoy!
These mummy hot dogs make a fun and spooky snack for Halloween.
