After smoking a large amount of brisket for the holidays, a cookout, birthdays etc., your hard work is likely to leave you with plenty of meat leftover.
Leftover brisket is super versatile and can be used in a wide variety of dishes.
Shred the brisket and heat it up in a skillet with taco seasoning or BBQ sauce. Serve in soft or crispy tortillas with toppings like salsa, guacamole, cheese, onions and cilantro.
Dice the brisket and add it to a pot of chili with beans, tomatoes, onions, garlic, chili powder, cumin and other spices. The smoky flavor from the brisket adds depth to the chili.
Use slices of brisket in a grilled cheese sandwich with cheddar, gouda or your favorite cheese. Cook on a griddle until crispy and melty for a decadent twist on a classic.
Place brisket and shredded cheese between two tortillas and cook in a skillet until the cheese is melted and the tortillas are crispy. Add extras like onions, peppers or hot sauce.
Spread tortilla chips on a baking sheet, top with shredded brisket, cheese, jalapeños and bake until the cheese is melted. Add toppings like sour cream, guacamole and salsa.
Stir-fry brisket with rice, eggs, vegetables like peas and carrots and soy sauce for a new way to enjoy this staple dish.
Bake large potatoes, then stuff them with shredded brisket, cheese, sour cream, green onions and any other toppings. The smoked meat complements the soft, starchy potato.
Add brisket to a bowl of ramen noodles along with a soft-boiled egg, greens and broth. The rich meat brings a smoky dimension to the ramen broth.
Use brisket in place of ground beef for a shepherd’s pie. Top the brisket and vegetable filling with mashed potatoes and bake until golden.
Create a variety of meals without having to buy more protein by using your leftover brisket.
