When I first moved into my loft, I poured all my energy into the spaces where we actually live. The kitchen, the dining area, the living room—every corner carefully curated, styled, and layered with intention.
But there’s one part of my home I’ve basically ignored: the hallway.
And I don’t mean a tiny walkway between rooms. I have a hallway that’s more than 10 feet long. It’s the first thing you walk through before reaching the main space. And yet, the only thing in it? An entryway table from IKEA. It gets the job done—but barely.
I walk through that hallway every single day. Guests walk through it, too. And I’m finally ready to admit that it deserves more. This space has been overlooked long enough—it’s time to give it some main character energy.
The Hallway Glow-Up Plan
This isn’t just about filling a blank wall. It’s about making the hallway feel like a true part of my home—not just a pass-through. So here’s what I’m planning:
1. Building a Gallery Wall
I’ve been collecting art, family photos for months, and cool decor for months — now I’m finally ready to display them. I want the hallway to tell a story—one that reflects our style and history, and gives people something to look at (and feel) as they move through the space.
2. Adding Sconces for Drama (and Light)
My hallway gets decent natural light during the day, but in the evenings? It goes dark. I’m bringing in sconce lighting to warm it up and give it a little depth. It’s a small addition that makes a big difference.
3. Bringing in Hooks for Everyday Function
Between jackets, toddler backpacks, and the bag I swear I’m going to return to the store, we need more functional storage. A row of stylish hooks will help keep things off the floor while still looking intentional.
It’s funny how the spaces we walk through the most can so easily become afterthoughts. But not anymore. This hallway sets the tone for the rest of my home—and now, it’s finally about to look the part.
