Formerly of the Golden State Warriors, shooting guard Klay Thompson is on the realty radar as his trade to the Dallas Mavericks has changed his primary whereabouts from Oakland to Texas. Thirteen years with the Bay Area-based franchise allowed Thompson to call Northern California home. After winning four NBA Championships with the Warriors, in 2015, 2017, 2018 and 2022, Thompson was traded to the Dallas Mavericks in 2023, a late-career move that has led to his new moniker Captain Comeback. This move has caused old and new fans to wonder about his life off the court too, including where he lives.

Klay Thompson Purchased His First Home In Oakland

Thompson purchased, and still owns, his first home that’s located in the East Bay. The Warriors, now associated with the broader Bay Area after their move to San Francisco, formerly played at the Coliseum Arena located in Oakland, California. Considered to be the eastern part of the bay, this is the location where Thompson described as his first home. The location has not yet been disclosed. Although, since then, he’s purchased other homes in California.

Thompson Also Purchased Dana Point Home In 2015

When Thompson was a Golden State Warrior and one-half of the Splash Brothers, following his first championship win, Thompson purchased a home in Dana Point, California. It’s located just an eight-hour drive and less than two-hour flight from where the team practices and plays. The 2,433 square foot home sits seaside and was purchased for $2.2 million in 2015. Terracotta tile characterizes the Spanish style home with a pool and a view of the ocean. It features three bedrooms, four bathrooms, a spacious living room with a fireplace, a game room, bar and a two-car garage. Thompson still owns the 50-year old home despite accepting a three-year, $50 million trade deal with the Texas-based NBA franchise.

The Golden State Warriors’ Move To San Francisco Prompted Thompson’s Second Purchase

In 2019, Thompson also shared that he purchased a third home in San Francisco following the team’s move from Oakland to San Francisco. He commented that he would never share the location of his home, but did say that it’s near the Chase Center in Mission Bay where the Warriors now play. It’s also near a park where he walks his dog, Rocco. His San Francisco home sounds to be within minutes of the team arena whereas the travel from there to his East Bay Home is about 40 minutes via car or train. However, now that the Dallas Mavericks shooting guard and small forward has a new city to call home, he may be considering new digs.
