Valentine’s Day is just around the corner, and that means one thing: It’s time for chocolate. Stores are filled to the brim with heart-shaped boxes of chocolates, but this year, why not opt for something a little more special, like a homemade dessert? Nothing is quite as satisfying as crafting a home-cooked meal, complete with cocktails and an indulgent dessert, and with these recipes, you’re sure to delight your special someone.

They’re rich and decadent, just like a chocolate dessert should be. But they also are a labor of love. That’s not to say they’re difficult to make. Most require just a few steps to complete, but the time and effort you put into it won’t be forgotten. From melting the chocolate to dipping and coating your dessert, your attempt to please can’t be ignored. We’ve compiled a list of delicious chocolate desserts just below. The only thing left for you to do now is to choose your favorite.

Red Velvet Molten Lava Cake

Ingredients

  • 1/3 cup white chocolate, chopped
  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 tablespoon red food coloring gel
  • Powdered sugar for dusting
  • Two ramekin dishes

Instructions

  1. Add white chocolate to a medium glass mixing bowl and temper over a pot of boiling water.
  2. Turn off the stove and add melted butter and sugar to the chocolate, stirring until it is smoothly combined.
  3. Whisk in the egg until mixed, and stir in the flour and cocoa powder.
  4. Add food coloring and continue to stir.
  5. Grease and lightly flour ramekin baking dishes.
  6. Divide the batter evenly into dishes, then place in the freezer for at least 30 minutes and preheat oven to 400°F
  7. Remove cakes from the freezer and bake for 14-16 minutes.
  8. Carefully remove cakes from the freezer and check to see that the surface is dry while the middle remains a little soft.
  9. Allow cakes to set and cool for about 10 minutes.
  10. Gently loosen the sides from the rim and place ramekin upside down on a serving plate, tapping the bottom lightly to remove the cake.
  11. Once removed, dust with powdered sugar and serve immediately.

Chocolate Mousse

Ingredients

  • 6 ounces semisweet chocolate
  • 3 large eggs, yolks, and whites separated
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1/2 teaspoon cream of tartar
  • 1/4 cup plus two tablespoons sugar
  • Whipped cream and chocolate shavings for garnish

Instructions

  1. Add butter and chocolate to a microwave-safe bowl and heat until most of the chocolate has melted.
  2. Once mixture has cooled, begin whisking in egg yolks one at a time.
  3. Using a stand mixer or an electric hand mixer, beat the egg whites until foamy.
  4. Add the cream of tartar and beat until stiff peaks form.
  5. Fold the egg white mixture into the chocolate mixture until combined.
  6. Spoon the mousse into glasses, cover, and chill in the refrigerator until set (about 2 hours).
  7. Garnish with whipped cream and chocolate shavings just before serving.

No-bake White Chocolate Raspberry Cheesecake

Sauce Ingredients

  • 2 cups frozen raspberries
  • 1/cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch

Cheesecake Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 cups chocolate baking crumbs
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 cup white chocolate chips
  • 1 1/2 cups fresh raspberries
  • 1 1/4 cups heavy cream
  • 3 packages cream cheese, softened to room temperature
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar

Instructions

  1. Add raspberries and sugar to a small pot and simmer.
  2. Add water and cornstarch to raspberry mixture and stir until thickened. Set aside.
  3. Combine baking crumbs and melted in a separate bowl, then press into the bottom of a springform pan.
  4. Add white chocolate chips and 1/4 cup of cream to a microwave-safe bowl and heat for 40 seconds until melted and smooth. Then place bowl in the fridge to cool.
  5. Using a stand mixer or an electric hand mixer, beat cream cheese until smooth.
  6. Add powdered sugar and vanilla to the mixture and beat until combined.
  7. Add cooled white chocolate to cream cheese mixture and beat until combined.
  8. In a separate bowl, beat 1 cup of cream until stiff peaks form.
  9. Fold the peaks into the cream cheese mixture and mix on low until smooth.
  10. Place raspberries into the bottom of the crust and pour the cheesecake filling over top.
  11. Add spoonfuls of the raspberry sauce on top of smoothed cheesecake and gently swirl.
  12. Allow to chill in the fridge overnight.

Oreo Balls

Ingredients

  • 1 pack of regular Oreo cookies
  • 1 package of cream cheese, softened to room temperature
  • 12 ounces semi-sweet chocolate, roughly chopped
  • 1/2 teaspoon vegetable oil
  • Sprinkles, melted white chocolate, or cookie crumbs for garnish

Instructions

  1. Add cookies to food processor or blender and pulse into a fine crumb, then pour into the bowl of a stand mixer or large mixing bowl.
  2. Add cream cheese and mix until combined.
  3. Using a tablespoon, scoop a spoonful of the mixture into your hand, roll into a ball, and place onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Repeat until all of the mixture is gone.
  4. Cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour.
  5. Add the chopped chocolate and oil to a clean microwave-safe glass bowl and melt in sessions, stirring in between each.
  6. Allow the chocolate to cool slightly.
  7. Dip each Oreo ball into the chocolate and swirl to coat.
  8. Top with desired garnish and place back on the parchment-lined baking sheet.
  9. Refrigerate at least 1 hour to allow chocolate to harden.

Chocolate Dipped Macarons

Ingredients

  • 4 quality coconut macarons
  • 4 (4-ounce) bars semisweet chocolate, chopped

Instructions

  1. Add the chopped chocolate to a clean microwave-safe glass bowl and melt in sessions, stirring in between each.
  2. Allow the chocolate to cool slightly.
  3. Dip the bottom of each macaron into the chocolate and swirl to coat.
  4. Allow to cool on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
