The simplest of sides like warm and fluffy buttermilk biscuits can be what completes a meal. No need to get store bought ones or a complex recipe when you can make them with just two ingredients.
These biscuits only need self-rising flour and heavy cream. This is because other ingredients (like milk and butter) are already included in the heavy cream.
Here’s a super simple recipe for 2-ingredient biscuits.
2 cups of self-rising flour 1 cup of heavy cream
Before you get to mixing ingredients, wash your hands and preheat the oven to 450°F (232°C).
In a large bowl, mix the self-rising flour and heavy cream until a soft dough forms. Be careful not to overmix.
On a lightly floured surface, gently knead the dough a few times, then roll it out to about ¾ inch thick. Sprinkle on more flour if the dough is sticky.
Use a biscuit cutter or a round glass to cut out biscuits. Gather and re-roll scraps as needed. Brush on a little extra whipping cream after cutting the biscuits.
Place the biscuits on a parchment-lined baking sheet, close together for soft sides or spaced apart for crispier sides. Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until lightly golden on top.
Enjoy these biscuits fresh out of the oven with butter, jam or honey.
If you don’t have self-rising flour, you can make your own by mixing 2 cups of all-purpose flour, 1 tablespoon of baking powder and ½ teaspoon of salt.
