The celebrity sphere of tequila just got a bit more interesting. This month Houston rapper and everyone’s favorite hot girl, Megan Thee Stallion, entered the space with the launch of her Chicas Divertidas tequila brand. As an artist and rising pop-culture queen, Meg never misses a moment to shine. While the industry is filled with celebrity-backed liquors, more specifically tequilas, Chicas Divertidas brings the rapper’s signature southern style to the spirit category.
At this point, celebrities and tequila are an unsurprising match. From George Clooney’s Casamigos to Kevin Hart’s Gran Carmeno, the pairing of star power with the smooth agave spirit is common. But the space is dominated by masculine energy, paving the way for Meg and Chicas Divertidas to shine.
Officially launched on February 15th, the brand celebrates the sultry persona that has made her a beauty and fashion icon while infusing the spicy elements of her style. It debuted with two expressions, each in its own vibrant bottle. The curvaceous shape and bold colors were designed after a beautiful but deadly flower known as Angel’s Trumpet. A mélange of violet, orange, and fuchsia and topped with a dagger-pierced heart crown, the bottle speaks to Meg’s charming and powerful personality.
But the juice inside is just as thoughtful. Each expression is crafted from 100% Blue Agave harvested in the highlands of Jalisco, Mexico. The region is considerably cooler than the lowlands and boasts soil with a high mineral content to produce tequila that’s more floral and fruity than earthy. That decision was no accident. “As someone who values good vibes and great memories, I knew I wanted to create a tequila that was designed to be shared and savored with my Hotties,” Megan stated in an official press release. She goes on to explain that Chicas Divertidas is crafted to be smooth, sultry, and of premium quality—adjectives that could also be used to describe Tina Snow herself.
Judging by the brand’s rollout, Chicas Divertidas seems to be gearing up for the return of hot girl summer. Chicas Divertidas blanco and reposado can be pre-ordered online at the brand’s website and at Reserve Bar.
This blanco is medium-bodied with a crisp, clean finish. On the palate and the nose, you'll denote flavors of sweet cooked agave, citrus, and savory hints of herbs and botanicals.
This reposado is rich in nutty and caramelized flavors thanks to American oak barrel aging. Upon sipping, you'll find aromas of toasted coconut, vanilla, agave, and warm cinnamon. The result is a balanced sip with an elegant finish.
