Garlic Butter Steak & Potatoes Skillet Recipe

Total Time: 40 minutes
Prep Time: 20 minutes
Cook Time: 20 minutes
Serves: 4 people

Ingredients:

  • 1.5 lbs sirloin steak, cut into cubes
  • 1.5 lbs baby potatoes, quartered
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon kosher salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Garlic Butter Ingredients:

  • 8 tablespoons (1 stick) unsalted butter, softened
  • 6 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, finely chopped
  • 1/4 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

Garlic Butter Instructions:

1. In a small bowl, combine softened butter, minced garlic, parsley, salt and pepper.
2. Mix thoroughly until all ingredients are well combined.
3. Cover and refrigerate until ready to use, or form into a log using plastic wrap.

Main Dish Instructions:

1. Season the cubed steak with kosher salt, black pepper, and garlic powder.
2. Heat olive oil in a large cast-iron skillet over medium-high heat.
3. Add the potatoes to the skillet; season with salt and pepper. Cook for 8-10 minutes until golden, stirring occasionally. Remove and set aside.
4. In the same skillet, add the steak in a single layer. Cook for 3-4 minutes on each side until desired doneness. Remove and set aside.
5. Reduce heat to medium-low. Add the prepared garlic butter to the skillet; let it melt completely.
6. Return potatoes and steak to the skillet; toss everything in the garlic butter sauce.
7. Garnish with additional fresh parsley and serve hot.

Cooking Tips:

  • Let the steak come to room temperature before cooking for even cooking.
  • Don’t overcrowd the pan when cooking the steak.
  • For medium-rare, cook steak to an internal temperature of 135°F.
  • Make extra garlic butter to keep in the freezer for future use.
