Fall is the perfect time of year to fill your home with new decor. Warm weather has faded away. Crisper mornings are here, and thus, more time inside. This doesn’t mean that you’ll be less stimulated or missing out on entertainment. Allowing your home to be the focal point of your fall festivities means switching out some of that decor.
The bright colors can stay because there’s several ways to work with and around that. Or, if your home happens to be a more monotone vibe, you’ll just be adding touches that will help to warm it up, literally and figuratively. Think of accents, elements that can be switched out easily and at an affordable price. Consider these eight home decor upgrades without breaking the bank.
Fall Home Decor for Your Walls: Paint and Mirrors
When you or a guest walks into your home, you’ll probably first notice everything that’s eye level. That includes the walls: their color, texture or what’s on them. If you want to paint, consider that it’ll be the first thing anyone walking through your doorway will see. If you don’t want to paint, wallpaper could be a great way to fall into a home decor upgrade that won’t break the bank.
There are so many options of wallpaper, inexpensive and expensive, colored and textured. It’ll ideally pull in elements from the rest of the decor. Or, if it’s an accent wall, allow it to shine.
Similarly, mirrors, with interesting or classic borders, will amplify the style of your home and can be found at second-hand stores for furniture outlets. If you’re into do-it-yourself projects, consider painting the borders too. Play with color as it relates to your furniture and accents.
Fall Home Decor for Comfort: Sofas, Throws and Flowers
Once you’ve taken in everything at eye level, your eyes (or those of your guests) will probably move down to about sofa height. Great sofas or couches can be statement pieces too although the customization of this experience is what will make the room shine.
Adding throws will add warmth to the room, yourself and or your guests. Play with texture and color here too. With a classic, knotty ivory throw, you can’t go wrong.
Along the same lines, flowers always fit. They add life to the room and can add color. Consider your favorites and what fits the room best, and add those in. You’ll definitely need a vase, which can be as classic or custom as you’d like, ranging from cylindrical glass to book and body shapes.
Fall Home Decor for Storage: Accent Cabinetry
Accent cabinetry might cost you a bit more, but it allows for some DIY if you’re interested. Think of old cabinets that you, a family member or friend might have around. Get yourself some sandpaper, spray paint and you have the accent cabinet of your Pinterest dreams.
Fall Home Decor for Floors: Rugs and Pillows
Great floors allow everything else in the room to shine. They’ll need to be top quality, but color or pattern also contribute to the decor of the overall room. Lay a statement rug over them that aligns with the vibe of the room. You’ll shock yourself at how beautiful and cohesive your home is. It can be as modern and simple or involved and baroque as you like.
Don’t forget the opportunity for extra seating with floor pillows. There will be the occasional or guest that wants to get more relaxed with floor seating. They ought to feel comfortable and look stylish (in your home) while doing it.
With these eight suggestions, upgrading your home can often be a fun experience that’s creative and comforting. Which of these suggestions stand out? Let us know how you plan to incorporate one or all of these. Looking forward to hearing back!
