John Legend and Chrissy Teigen are no strangers to lifestyle brands. Chrissy has her Cravings’ food brand that features cookbooks, kitchenware, and bake mixes, and John has Loved 01, a skincare line, and LVE, a wine line. But this time they joined forces for Kismet, a pet line focused on providing nutritious food and treats.
Why pet food?
Before having their four children, John and Chrissy were dog parents. They have always loved animals, and are also big foodies, and decided to combine those two passions to create a brand that offered healthy food for pets. They wanted to make dry pet food that was just as nutrient-packed as fresh food, but more convenient and accessibly priced.

The Brand at a Glance
John and Chrissy teamed up with board-certified veterinarians to create their products. Kismet’s chief veterinary officer is Dr. Kwane Stewart, a veterinarian with over two decades of experience in veterinary medicine and a founder of Project Street Vet, a non-profit that provides care to pets whose owners are unhoused.
Real animal protein is the first ingredient in Kismet products. This includes chicken, which helps with energy and muscle mass and provides amino acids. Another protein they use is salmon, which is high in Omega 3s and B vitamins, supports healthy and shiny coats, and also helps with muscle mass. Other ingredients include barley, brown rice, beet pulp, sweet potatoes, carrots, kale, apples, cranberries, pre and probiotics, and rosemary extracts. These ingredients provide fiber, vitamins, and nutrients, and help with your dog’s digestion and immune system. There aren’t any fillers, meaning no corn, wheat, preservatives, or artificial colors or flavors.
Kismet currently offers two types of dog food, the chicken and barley recipe with nutritious freeze-dried nugs and the salmon and brown rice recipe with nutritious freeze-dried nugs. They come in 9 and 19-pound bag options. They also offer slow-cooked dog treats in square and stick options made from salmon or beef. Both the treats and food are available as part of a subscription plan, or you can buy them individually.
Why shop Kismet?
Each purchase of Kismet products supports two non-profits focused on pets: Dr. Stewart’s Project Street Vet and Paws for Life. One of the Paws for Life programs is a prison program that sends dogs from overcrowded and high-kill shelters to prisons for training and socialization, benefiting both the incarcerated and the dogs. They also provide free unlimited training and playgroups to both shelter and community dogs with their People & Pet Innovation Center in Southern California.
