Packed with nutritious spinach and a blend of savory spices, it’s not just tasty but also good for you. Now, of course, it wouldn’t be a Southern favorite if it didn’t have some indulgent ingredients, but who cares when you’re making comfort food that feels good for the body and soul?

Whether you’re hosting a game night or a casual get-together, this southern-style spinach dip recipe will truly make you the star of the show.

How To Make Southern-Style Spinach Dip

Ingredients:

  • Fresh or frozen spinach
  • Velveeta Queso Blanco Cheese 16 oz block
  • Heavy whipping cream
  • Jimmy Dean Regular Pork Sausage Roll 16 oz
  • 1-2 cans of Rotel Original (contingent on how many you’re preparing for.)

This is a fairly easy recipe. To make the dip, start by browning your Jimmy Dean breakfast sausage in a large skillet and draining any fat. Next, cut up your Velveeta Queso Blanco Cheese into cubes and add them into the crockpot with heavy whipping cream or milk substitutions to keep the cheese from sticking to the pot and to keep the dip from becoming too thick. Once the cheese begins to melt, add in your cooked, frozen, or fresh spinach and sausage along with your drained can of Rotel. You can also sauté the spinach before adding it to the crock pot if you enjoy the thin texture, but it’s not necessary. From here, you want to stir occasionally but let the southern-style spinach dip simmer for up to one hour.

Serve with your favorite tortilla chips and let the party enjoy.
