Michael Jordan has left a legacy in the NBA and in the world of fashion. After playing for the Chicago Bulls for several years, Jordan settled down in his Chicago mansion in 1994 and lived there for 19 years.

With the house being vacant for several years, as Jordan has moved to another city, this enormous mansion still remains on the market after 10 long years. But why has this $14 million mansion (current asking price), which had one of basketball’s most famous and talented athletes, not been able to sell?

The mansion, originally priced at $29 million, has tried everything from lowering the price down to $14 million to offering free pairs of Air Jordans with the purchase of the home. It seems like this Chicago mansion has everything you need from a basketball court, a golf course, a tennis court, a pond, a large pool, lounges and just about everything else you can think of. But, the reason why this mansion is having a hard time selling isn’t because of the cool amenities. In fact, this home would be perfect for a basketball or Michael Jordan fan, as it’s complete with a gate that displays a large number 23 at the entrance, representing the player’s jersey number.

The reason why this home has been on the market for over a decade is because it’s too personalized to Michael Jordan himself. For those interested in purchasing the multimillion-dollar property, you’d have to spend additional money to make this home your own. The athlete’s name is also over the house, along with his kids’ names on the basketball court and Jordan-branded flags all over the golf course.

The unique features in the house also make this a hard purchase for clients. The home has quirky features including an aquarium in the kitchen and living spaces, an uneven ratio of rooms, with 19 bathrooms and nine bedrooms in the house, along with Playboy mansion doors, unique furniture, a cigar lounge and a one-of-a-kind infinity pool that is shaped like a circle with a patch of grass in the middle.

This 56,000-square-foot home has been listed at the same price now for seven years.

Where Does Michael Jordan Live Now?

Most people may know about Jordan’s Chicago home, but where does he reside now? The legendary basketball icon now lives in his Florida mansion located in Jupiter. The $25 million dollar mansion spans over 28,000 square feet and serves as the primary residence for Jordan and his family. The mansion is located in the gated community of The Bears Club and includes various luxury amenities including a golf course, 11 bedrooms and bathrooms, a basketball gym and a pool.

Not only does Michael Jordan have his Chicago and Florida properties, the Basketball star also has a $2.8M lakefront home in Cornelius, North Carolina. The house is a 30-minute drive from the Charlotte Hornets arena, the team Jordan owned until earlier this year. The North Carolina property has six bedrooms, a large pool, a private dock, large windows and is surrounded by the lake.

Needless to say, the Basketball icon has been from state to state, with multiple mansions and properties that he’s lived in. Only time will tell if his Chicago estate will sell for the the bargain price of $14M. Lowering the price even more would definitely cut into any profit margin the basketball legend might want to see from his home of 19 years. Surely, there must be an old school fan of number 23 out there, somewhere.
