As home decor and design enthusiasts, it’s only natural that we’re obsessed with seeing the interiors of the homes of people we admire. This is why Home & Textured launched the “House Tours” series, taking you inside some of the most stunning homes of Black and multicultural designers, entrepreneurs, creatives, and tastemakers.

With season one in Memphis and season two in South Central Los Angeles, respectively, we’ve showcased unique and captivating spaces that reflect the culture and creativity of each location.

For season three, we’re heading back to the South, to a city that influences the world: Atlanta—also known as “The A” or simply ATL. But before we reveal the ATLiens featured in season three, let’s take it back to some of our personal favorite moments from “House Tours” seasons one and two. These three moments are memorable because they capture our true love of interiors—art, color theory, and eclecticism.

Now, let’s get into it.

Ayesha Selden’s Art Collection

I audibly gasped when I first saw art collector Ayesha Selden’s episode (season two, episode one if you haven’t seen it). Her South Central abode is like entering a gallery where the most in-demand Black artist’s work is housed. Selden started her art-collecting journey in February 2021; since then, she has acquired over 100 pieces of art. “I started collecting art shortly after I bought the house, and what I now know is I want less light and less windows and more walls for art,” she said in the episode.

Selden makes it a priority to support local LA artists and artists from the African diaspora. In this episode, you’ll see works by artists such as Brandon Deener, Lauren Pearce, Shannon Lewis, Nelson Makamo, and more.

The Mood-Boosting, Eclecticism of David Quarles, IV

Designer and creator David Quarles, IV welcomed us into his Memphis home in season one of “House Tours.” Much like his personality, his home exudes happiness. I would describe Quarles’ home as being eclectic with a mood-bosting effect. In the episode, the designer shared that he is inspired by the disco era, destinations he loves, and his culture—he comes from a Dominican, Creole, Liberian, Jewish, Indigenous American, African-American, and Caucasian background. “If there is any one thing that would be like a business card or a representation of who I am, It’s my home,” says Quarles to Home & Texture.

If you’re looking for a dopamine hit, be sure to watch this episode.

The Color Play in René Daniella’s Living Room

As a maximalist, I am a huge fan of mixing bold prints, colors, and textures when it comes to fashion and home decor. Content creator René Daniella’s Los Angeles living room is like a masterclass in brilliantly balancing color for a look that is maximalist, chic, and modern. Daniella’s entire home is stunning, but her living room is a literal work of art with a rich, velvet chartreuse sofa and armchairs, an accent wall featuring a bold printed wallpaper in shades of buttery yellow, sky blue, lavender, red, and more.

“When I was first decorating my house, I already knew that I wanted to make it a bit of a statement, and I had the phrase that I wanted to make it a work of art,” says Daniella in the episode. She did just that, and the intentionality that she put into the color palette and curation of her home is evident.

If you haven’t caught up on “House Tours” yet, the good news is that you still have time. Season three will air on Tuesday, Sept. 17, 2024.

In the meantime, catch up on season one and season two here.
