Beyoncé and Jay-Z Make History With Their New Malibu Home Purchase, Which is an Architectural Masterpiece

May 20, 2023 at 8:51 PM PST

Everyone’s favorite power couple just made more history. The Carters, also known as Beyoncé and Jay-Z, just purchased the most expensive house ever sold in the state of California. Beyoncé may be traveling around the world on her Renaissance World Tour, but she will have a cozy home to come back to when it’s all said and done.

This architectural splendor is located in Malibu and is a 30,000-square-foot masterpiece. According to a report by TMZ, real estate sources say that the Carters paid $200 million for the property. The previous record for the most expensive home sold in the state of California was $177 million. This makes the Carter’s new property the second most expensive real estate deal in the United States. The most expensive is an NYC apartment costing a whopping $238 million.

The Malibu property was originally listed for $295 million, so the power couple got an amazing deal on their new abode.

Situated on an 8-acre bluff that overlooks the Pacific Ocean, this stunning home is located in the Paradise Cove area, also known as ‘Billionaires’ Row.’ The home was designed by Japanese master architect Tadao Ando. He is also designing a home for Kanye West in Malibu. Having your home designed by Ando is an architectural dream, as the Japanese architect has designed very few homes in the U.S.

So Who Owned the House Before Jay and Bey Bought it?

The home was built and owned by one of the biggest art collectors in the world, William Bell. He is the son of the creators of popular soap operas “The Young and the Restless” and “The Bold and the Beautiful.” The incredible concrete structure home took almost 15 years to be completed. Similarly, the Carters have an impressive art collection, including works by Jean-Michel Basquiat, Andy Warhol, Damien Hirst, and more.

This is the second huge real estate purchase made in the Los Angeles area by the Carters that is publicly known. They purchased a home in Bel-Air back in 2017 for $88 million. It is now worth over $100 million.
