Drew Barrymore’s sunny attitude has made us smile for decades, so it’s only fitting that she be honored with her very own bright hue on her birthday. To mark the occasion of her 50th birthday, Pantone announced that it was giving the actress her own color, aptly named Drew Barrymore Yellow. Bold and bubbly, the shade embodies the cheery outlook she presents on the big screen and the red carpet.

Still, the announcement came as a shock to Barrymore when it was presented to her on her daytime television program, “The Drew Barrymore Show.” In a viral video, the folks from Pantone crashed the set of the show to bestow Barrymore with the honor and denote that she is now one of the select few who has their very own Pantone Color. “We’re here today to celebrate your accomplishments by inviting you to be a part of a select few that have their very own Pantone Color,” said Tannese Williams, Head of Fashion, Home + Interiors at Pantone.

Following the announcement, Barrymore stood stunned, clearly excited and in disbelief, until the official swatch appeared to make it official. The color falls somewhere between a buttery eggshell and soft sunshine and is meant to be as welcoming and inviting as the actress is on and off screen. An official release on the company’s website notes that “Drew Barrymore Yellow exudes a joyful glow, creating a space where everyone can shine. Inviting thoughts of pleasant relaxation, the creamy yellow is emblematic of Drew’s desire for happiness.”

Inspiring People to Brighten up Their Homes This Spring

Like all of Pantone’s creations, this shade is more than just a color. At the unveiling, Williams explained that it’s designed to create a welcoming space and inspire people to celebrate each other for who they are. That said, it’s the perfect hue to brighten up your home this spring. Whether used as a paint color or for textiles—think tablecloths, linen, throw pillows, and towels—it’s bound to bring some cheer to your space.

Coincidentally, it also fits seamlessly into Barymoore’s home collection, Beautiful, found at Walmart. 2025 is shaping up to be a year of color diversity, and Drew Barrymore Yellow is a fun way to liven up your home.
