In today’s social media-driven world, finding your sense of style is a complex balance. It requires navigating through trends and aesthetics to find a look that speaks to your personality. While most of us are keen to doomscroll for days, Jasmine King—a seasoned social media manager and founder of the Socially Hooked agency—found her style the old-fashioned way. For her, decorating was all about infusing her character and charm into the space. “My home is all about expressing who I am,” she tells Home & Texture. Her 641-square-foot Houston apartment is like a love letter to the pieces of her personality. From the dusty pink shades to the gallery wall of Black women she admires, it’s easy to see elements that bring her joy.

King’s love of muted tones is prominent throughout her home. Her style effortlessly blends minimalist and maximalist aesthetics to form something unique. If you ask her, there’s not one look she clings to, and instead she likes to go with pieces that fit her mood. “I love mixing blush pinks, sage greens, and earthy browns to create a vibe that’s as warm and inviting as a fall day—which also happens to be my favorite season,” she says.
Playing around with different tones and textures is just as important as the color palette. In the living room, a natural-toned shaggy rug provides the perfect contrast with her pink velvet sectional. A statement piece all its own, the Pink Albany Sofa from Albany Park is the most expensive item in her collection. Though it cost $1,259, King notes it touches the cornerstones of her main design styles: cozy, personal, and a bit eclectic.
As an entrepreneur and Black woman, it was just as important to celebrate the women who inspire her. “Black art and cultural excellence are major features in my space because they add layers of meaning and beauty. My collection doesn’t just add depth to my home—it also celebrates my heritage and lets you know that a Black woman lives here when you walk in,” she says. Her charisma and charm can be seen throughout each room in slightly different ways. For example, the bookshelves styled with books and colorful trinkets give guests insight into her love of reading, while cream and neutral elements give it a lived-in and loved feel. “It’s this combination of comfort, personal expression, and cultural pride that makes my home uniquely mine and a place where I feel completely at peace.”
