When it comes to socializing, spring and summer are often the busiest months of the year. It’s normalized in today’s society for alcohol to be served at most adult functions, and many people indulge in a beverage or two to help loosen them up. At the same time, sobriety has become increasingly popular; for those not wanting to be left out, cocktails have turned into mocktails. We’ve previously explored some cortisol mocktail recipes perfect for anyone avoiding booze and looking to get some added health benefits from their drink. If that sounds like you, and you want a beverage that will cost you as few calories as possible, the skinny cortisol mocktail is the perfect drink to try next.

This mixture has numerous health benefits, such as reducing stress hormones, alleviating symptoms of adrenal fatigue and restoring the natural balance of your hormones. Some of the skinny cortisol mocktail’s main ingredients include green tea (amino acid L-theanine helps reduce stress levels), chamomile (calming properties promote healthy sleep) and ginger (aids in digestion impacted by chronic stress). If this sounds like the kind of drink you need in your life, read on for instructions on how to make your own.

Ingredients:

  • 1 green tea bag or 1 teaspoon loose-leaf green tea
  • 1 chamomile tea bag or 1 teaspoon of dried chamomile flowers
  • Juice of half a lemon
  • 1-inch piece of fresh ginger, grated or sliced
  • 1-inch piece of turmeric, grated or sliced
  • 1 teaspoon honey (optional)
  • Ice cubes
  • 1 cup water

The first step to making your skinny cortisol mocktail is boiling water to pour over your green and chamomile teas (either in bag or loose-lead/dried flower form). Be sure to use a heatproof container for this! Once poured, allow the mixture to steep for approximately five minutes so the flavors can properly infuse. Once complete, strain or remove the tea bag/flowers.

Next, add the juice from your lemon, then the sliced turmeric and ginger. If you desire, a teaspoon of honey can be mixed in at this point as well. Stir to combine everything and let steep for another five minutes. While waiting, fill a glass with ice cubes, then pour your skinny cortisol mocktail over them. Before drinking, give the glass one last gentle stir to distribute all the flavors evenly. Enjoy!
