It’s not your imagination. The Starbucks online menu and store display signs don’t say “Medicine Ball” anywhere. Whether you’re handling a drink run for your work team or interested in trying this Honey Citrus Mint Tea yourself, that is actually what you’re supposed to order from Starbucks if you want a Medicine Ball drink.
Ordering a Medicine Ball Drink At Starbucks
To order a Starbucks medicine ball, all you’ll need to do is order a honey citrus mint tea. You’ll be able to select this in store, on the app, or through delivery services like Uber Eats or Doordash.
Although green or black tea is no more than three calories, there’s more to this short-to-venti tea blend, which ranges from 70 calories to 150 calories. The Medicine Ball also includes a couple of pumps of a honey blend, a choice of light or extra lemonade, and one tea bag. The mix also includes herbal notes of chamomile, spearmint and fruit flavor.
Making the Medicine Ball Your Own
While Starbucks uses a mix of peach tea and citrus mint tea, if you have another type of tea you like (ex. ginkgo biloba, mate with lemongrass, fruit tea with forest fruits, fruit tea with blackcurrant, fruit tea with raspberries, herbal teas), go for it. This is the time to finally make use of that tea gift you got last Christmas that’s still sitting in your kitchen cabinet. If you prefer agave or honey, add that too. Don’t skip out on the mint leaves or lemon juice though; those are major parts of what makes the drink a hit.
Fresh Lemonade Or Store-Bought Lemonade
When ordering a Medicine Ball from Starbucks, their own lemonade is added. Even a tall version has 80 calories. When making your own lemonade from fresh lemons, you’ll have more control over how much sugar is included. If you’re looking for a tea blend that’s more sour than sweet, feel free to change the lemon versus sugar count for your liking. For diabetics who want to regulate their blood sugar, keep in mind that agave or honey has approximately 21 calories versus 16 calories for a teaspoon of sugar. While it may seem like sugar would be the one to avoid, between the three, it is not. Choose sugar or skip it altogether. Fresh fruit is a natural sweetener anyway. Let a teaspoon or tablespoon blend in after boiling your water, and let the tea steep for a few minutes.
Best of all, while testing all of these variations out with less sugar, less calories and (probably) as much mint, this is your time to enjoy your tea drink with a few dollars saved. And a good cup of tea boosts your immune system, fights inflammation and reduces the risks of chronic diseases. No matter how you make or order your Medicine Ball, your mind and body will thank you.
