Cleaning happens year-around, even daily, but there’s nothing quite like the freshness of spring cleaning. You’re probably looking forward to finally packing up the winter goods and welcoming more fun and sun into your home.
With the changing seasons comes the duty of spring cleaning and decluttering. Home & Texture joined Clorox® to watch Tik Tok’s “Queens of Clean,” Vanesa Amaro and Diane Amos (The Pine-Sol® Lady), for their tips to help families with the daunting duty of deep cleaning.

The Cleaning Pros Best Tips
We asked these cleaning pros for some tips that families can use to get their homes ready for spring.
What are the most common areas in the home that most people tend to ignore?
Diane Amos: “I’ve said this before, and I’ll say it again! Something people never really think about is behind the door – it is like a hidden city of little knickknacks. Maybe you’ve placed things behind there that you forgot about, so, it is good to remember to clean that area. Another place is light fixtures. If someone’s sitting on your couch and you turn on a lamp, I promise you it is going to illuminate every little piece of dust that is on your table or in your lampshade right away. So, cleaning your light fixtures and around those lamp areas is a very good tip, and don’t forget those side tables – keep them nice and clean as well.”
Vanesa Amaro: “For me, it’s making sure that we’re cleaning what we’re not seeing. It’s human nature to ignore cleaning what we don’t see – out of sight out of mind! If we don’t see it, we’re not going to clean it. So, think about those things that you’re not seeing in your house on a daily basis. Like the top of your chandelier or maybe the top of your light fixtures, the top of your mirrors, or anything that’s hidden behind or under things such as the couch and vacuum under it. Move that stove and don’t forget to clean the sides of it. It’s good to keep in mind that you might not be seeing it so you might not be cleaning it.”
How To Prepare To Clean Your Home
How do you organize your home before you clean?
Diane Amos: “Start by making a list of what you want to do in each room. Remember that you don’t have to do it all in one day. Assign tasks to the people that are going to help you. Or if you’re doing it by yourself, give yourself tasks that are not going to wear you out in one day. Gather your cleaning products in one area or get yourself a caddy with a handle that can go around with you into each room. Separately, if I know I want to sweep I will take the broom out and put it in the hallway or put all my rags and sponges on the counter at one time so when I get to that room, I’m not looking for my tools – they’re already there!”
Vanesa Amaro: “I like to declutter my house before cleaning to eliminate distractions. For example, opening a drawer and stumbling upon old photos. Next thing you know you’re going down memory lane looking at old pictures. Two hours later you still hadn’t cleaned. Designate a separate day for decluttering and organizing your house as cleaning a less cluttered house is way easier than cleaning a house with double the mess.”
With those great tips, we let the experts pick the top cleaning products that will get the job done.
