If you’re a fan of the Boston Celtics, you’ve surely spent your fair share of hours rooting for MVP small forward Jaylen Brown. The Georgia native, who has played with the Celts since he was chosen as a third-round draft pick back in 2016, has become a face of the franchise in recent years, along with his mega-star teammates, including Jayson Tatum and Kristaps Porziņģis. Since Brown has made such waves with the Celtics fanbase, you can imagine the shock and horror that Boston sports fans experienced when they learned he was putting his luxury penthouse in Boston up for sale last summer. Luckily, it looks like this isn’t a sign that Jaylen Brown is leaving the franchise, as those close to the baller have stated in no uncertain terms that Brown will remain on the team. Specifically, his real estate agent, George Sarkis, told NBC10 Boston, “I can tell you that his plan is to be a Celtic for a very long time. He’s not going anywhere. He’ll be local still.”
Since we don’t have a ton of info regarding Jaylen Brown’s next home, now seems like as good a time as any to examine the specs of his former abode and check out the listing as it currently stands. Sarkis has delivered several walkthroughs of the property on camera, allowing us to get a glimpse of how the MVP shooter has been living for the last few years.
Inside Jaylen Brown’s Private Penthouse
For those that don’t know, Boston, Massachusetts, is considered to be one of the most expensive real estate markets in the continental United States. The area, which offers premier access to ocean views, big city living and plenty of high-end colleges and public school systems, tends to top such lists alongside San Diego, Los Angeles and Manhattan. This may explain why Jaylen Brown’s penthouse is so prohibitively expensive, as the impressive property boasts a price tag of over $4.75 million.
Inside the luxury suite, you’ll find a sprawling open floor plan, perfect for a star athlete who doesn’t want to feel boxed in by his surroundings. Floor-to-ceiling windows offer tons of natural light and a direct view of the Boston skyline. The walls throughout the unit are dotted with framed jerseys, trophy cases and mementos of Brown’s exceptional basketball career. There’s also a hoop in one of the corners, perfect for tossing a few free throws between meetings. If basketball isn’t your thing, Jaylen also has a full-sized billiards table across from a couple of retro arcade machines in the den.
The total square footage of the unit clocks in at just under 3,000 ft, with a large master bedroom tucked around the corner from the living area. The room boasts five massive closets, as Sarkis notes, Jaylen Brown rarely wears the same outfit twice. While the two other bedrooms in the unit don’t offer as much space, Brown’s guests still have plenty of room to spread out. The entire top-floor unit offers 12-foot ceilings, exposed brick accent walls, and wood beam supports, offering a rustic aesthetic. On the other hand, the kitchen is much more modern, with stainless steel appliances, granite countertops and frosted glass cabinet fixtures.
Stepping up to the Rooftop Deck
One thing that’s virtually impossible to attain in Boston’s Seaport district is your own private outdoor space. The historic city, which has been developing since the first settlers landed on Plymouth Rock, has a reputation for being a bit claustrophobic. Luckily, Jaylen Brown doesn’t face this problem, as his penthouse unit contains a spiral staircase leading directly up to a rooftop terrace. The 400-square-foot outdoor space offers room to host parties, grow plants or simply look down upon some of the city’s finest restaurants, bars and tourist attractions. The deck has a table and chair set where Brown can entertain his guests, as well as a fire pit – perfect for keeping warm in those frigid Boston Winters.
Sarkis hails this building as one of Boston’s most incredible gems, explaining that Brown has enjoyed proximity to the highway, ease of access to practice and brief walks to the neighboring facilities during his stay. In the previously mentioned interview with NBC10, Sarkis explained that the building is “close enough to all the hustle and bustle. Seaport Boulevard, Downtown, South Station – but far enough and quiet enough to just be able to stroll into your boutique building – 24 units only, without anyone bothering you.” The building has served as a home to multiple Celtics players in the past, as journalist Jay King previously reported. Per a social media post from King, Kristaps Porziņģis has also lived in the building during Jaylen Brown’s stay. The two apparently spent a good time getting to know each other while residing in close quarters, which helps explain their electric on-court chemistry.
Does Jaylen Brown Have Any Other Properties?
Since Brown is selling off his multi-million dollar penthouse, there’s no telling where he plans to stay next. Of course, he also has a property in Wellesley, Massachusetts, where he can return. The Wellesley address, located some 15 miles or so from the Seaport District, offers more privacy and less front-and-center access to the downtown Boston area. Despite this minor inconvenience, the beautiful farmhouse-style home provides a truly luxurious environment and is estimated to be worth nearly $8 million, per Realtor.com. The exterior of the home is crafted with elegant white brick, and surrounded by a large paved driveway. Around the back, you’ll find a swimming pool, spa and a covered sitting area perfect for lounging after a successful game.
On the inside, you’ll see a sprawling 10,000 square foot abode with an open concept, not dissimilar to the layout in the penthouse. Much like the Seaport address, the Wellesley home has high ceilings, light-colored floors and massive windows which let in a ton of natural sunlight. Hardwood countertops and black tile backsplashes can be found in the bathrooms, while the kitchen boasts a modern farmhouse aesthetic, complete with a massive fireplace and an oven mounted into the island. The kitchen also has white granite countertops, a view of the pool and a stainless steel wine fridge perfect for chilling a few glasses before a cocktail party.
Obviously, Jaylen Brown is a man who knows how to keep a luxurious home. The question of whether he plans to purchase more property in the Boston area remains unanswered for now, though he has made his intention to stick with the Celtics quite clear. No matter where his next adventure takes him, we can rest assured that he’ll be arriving in style.
