Bye, Brat Summer, hello Beetlejuice Fall.

Dare we say, “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice.” The long-awaited sequel to Tim Burton’s cult classic 1988 film premiered in theaters Sept. 6, earning a whopping $110 million in its opening weekend. Nearly 40 years after the original released, “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice” is now the second highest-grossing September movie behind the “It” remake, beating out “It Chapter 2.” Since Brat Summer is officially over, according to the brattiest, Charli XCX, and the gobs of pumpkin everywhere, it’s only fitting to coin the upcoming season, “Beetlejuice Fall.”

With such staggering box office numbers, it’s a no-brainer that the sequel’s fantastical scenes will inspire Halloween this year, from costumes to decor. Whether you’re a fan or looking to deviate from the traditional orange fest, designing your spooky home with “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice” themes is culturally relevant and trendy.

Here’s how to create your version of the afterlife by channeling the essence of the characters.

The Neitherworld

The Neitherworld isn’t a character but the realm of the dead, home to various ghosts and locations, including the Waiting Room, Immigration Center, Soul Train, Great Beyond, Pearly Gates, Elysium Fields, and Fires of Damnation. There’s so much down there, allowing you to play with the design. You can take aspects from each or focus on a singular concept.

Ghosts land in the waiting room immediately after death. A simple way to include this is by turning a living room window into the check-in area, complete with a “now serving” sign, a ticket dispenser, and a checkered rug to mimic the waiting room’s floor. Next, they go to the immigration center for passports to transport around the afterlife. To incorporate this scene, create similar passports and scatter them throughout your home. Lastly is a ride on the soul train, where disco and dancing shake the platform. Get a hanging disco ball and a few for the table for a funky yet ghoulish good time.

Ghosts end their journeys in one of the other locations. Up to interpretation, tap into your imagination to create something unique. The Great Beyond is the final resting place in the afterlife; Pearly Gates are heaven; Elysium Fields–a play on Greek Mythology–is a place for the heroic and virtuous; Fires of Damnation hold the damned.

Betelgeuse

The green-haired, black-and-white-striped-suited troublemaker is the most straightforward character to decorate around. Paint pumpkins for your porch with black and white stripes. Alternatively, grab a Beetlejuice tombstone, sign, or a life-size animated recreation from a Halloween shop. For those who want to keep Betelgeuse away, guard the outside of your home with his enemy, the inflatable sandworm.

Delores

Delores, Betelgeuse’s undead ex-bride, wears a black gown and has a stitched face. Signal her presence in your home by draping a lacy black cloth over the table, going all out and hanging a veil, or including a bloody severed prop finger with a wedding ring. If you’re hosting a party, serve cookies or cake decorated with cool bluish-white icing and stitched details. You can also lean into dark floral arrangements and skeletons.

Wolf Jackson

Detective of the Neitherworld, Wolf Jackson’s death left him with quite the eyesore: an exposed brain. While unfortunate for him, it’s an easy, frightful addition for you.

Bob

With his shrunken head and bright yellow suit, Bob’s one of the most memorable characters. You can find recreations of him on Etsy. Otherwise, miniature skeleton heads are a great option, too.

Lydia

Lydia is all grown up in “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice.” Although a mortal, her career as a celebrity paranormal talk show host offers an exciting spin on decor. Make ghosts the star, finishing with an epic crystal ball, Ouija board, and candelabra combination on a side table.
