In the heart of South Amboy, New Jersey, Joy and Kenton Berkeley have created a vibrant 767-square-foot sanctuary that perfectly reflects their unique personalities and shared aesthetic vision. Joy, an Interior Decorator and content creator from Brooklyn, NY, and Kent, a corporate hospitality professional from Augusta, GA, have transformed their one-bedroom apartment into a stunning example of what they call “Afro-Modern Eclectic” style.

Their cozy apartment serves as a canvas for their creative expression, where high-end design pieces from Crate and Barrel and CB2 harmoniously blend with affordable IKEA finds and HomeGoods treasures. The couple has curated their space to be colorful, cultured, and warm — three words that perfectly describe both their home and their personalities.
Having shared a home for nine out of their eleven years together, Joy and Kent have developed a natural rhythm in their daily lives. While Kent expresses his creativity in the kitchen, Joy maintains their space with her love for cleaning — a division of duties that exemplifies their complementary relationship. Their evenings are filled with music, movies, and endless conversations in their thoughtfully designed space.
