In episode two of season three of Home & Texture’s “House Tours” series, viewers were treated to a masterclass in “Tropical Modernism,” courtesy of creatives Michelle Norris and Forrest Aguar. The couple’s first home, a condo in Atlanta, seamlessly blends their individual and collective tastes. The space is adorned with eye-catching bright colors and lush greenery while showcasing local Atlanta craftsmanship through custom-built furniture and commissioned art pieces.
Living Room Flow
We were captivated by two remarkable pieces in the living room: a woman-shaped table crafted by an Atlanta artist in the 1990s and a custom shelving unit created by Silt Studio. “We love its Memphis-inspired design, and the custom nature allowed us to perfectly match the colors used throughout the space,” Norris explains in the episode.
Lockers For The Bedroom
The bedroom space showcased the couple’s innovative use of Mustard Made locker units for storage. This quirky yet clever choice adds a nostalgic touch, reminiscent of school days, while elevating the room’s style. For adults, it’s a unique way to combine functionality with a dash of whimsy in bedroom decor. The lockers not only provide ample storage but also serve as a conversation piece. They add character and charm to the intimate space.
Atlanta Outdoor Living
On the patio, we were drawn to the pom-shaped teal chairs that matched the pink turf. This seating arrangement beautifully complemented the industrial backdrop of the space. The juxtaposition of playful furniture against the urban setting perfectly encapsulates the overall vibe.
While most of the couple’s furniture is one-of-a-kind custom, we’ve sourced three items similar to those found in Norris and Aguar’s condo. If any of these pieces work for you, tag us on Instagram (@homeandtexture).
Tune into episode three, season three, of Home & Texture’s “House Tours” here.
Low Profile Fluted Mid-Century Media Console
While this may not be Norris and Aguar's exact version in their home, the vision is there. You can paint over the media console and add a handmade trifold to hide your television. Another option is to add custom shelving that covers the television as well. Since the bones of the entertainment system are brown oak, choosing a color to paint the furniture is up to your discretion.
Mustard Made Midi Locker
Norris and Aguar brought back those adolescent memories with this Mustard Made locker storage unit in their bedroom. Not only does it bring back those school days locker memories, but it's also a clever way to elevate your storage placement in your adult room.
Cini Outdoor Rocker Chair
You may have to search high and low for the teal-colored outdoor seating chairs the couple had outside on their patio. Or, you could grab these from burnt orange rocker patio chairs from Wayfair and reupholster them yourself. That's definitely something the Home & Texture team would do to get the look.
