The Michigan native gave fans an inside look at her stunning kitchen in her Miami home. V Starr designed her home. It is a luxury design firm owned by her sister Venus Williams. She filled the space with decor inspiration galore.

The kitchen is both luxe and artsy. It features gold accents, Italian luxury brand Officine Gullo appliances and Caesarstone sustainable countertops. While the kitchen’s overall aesthetic is magnificent, the kitchen’s island can make anyone audibly gasp.

Kitchen islands are essential in modern homes because they are a hub for meal prep, dining and entertaining guests. Whether you’re a minimalist who wants discreet storage solutions or eccentric and crave vibrant appliances, adding a statement piece in your kitchen will give it a wow factor. Williams’ statement island starts off as a typical white marble slab with a built-in sink. Then, it surprises and delights extending into a beautiful geometric-shaped dining table. It is made out of rich, dark wood. The contrast of the two materials is a visual feast that everyone should add to their mood boards immediately.

The Future Trend

While many haven’t seen a kitchen island quite like Williams’, experts say that could soon change. Amy Youngblood, owner and lead designer of Amy Youngblood Interiors, tells Homes and Gardens, that the industry is seeing “more uniquely shaped furniture.” She said people want to move from “normal and typical.” Homeowners are wanting to add more personality to their homes. They’re doing this by choosing unconventional pieces that are functional.

If you’re looking for ways to modernize your kitchen, take a page from Williams’ book and incorporate geometric and sculptural pieces into your space.
