Honestly, call me the eggnog enthusiast! While other kids eagerly awaited candy canes and hot cocoa during the holidays, I was the quirky youngster who lit up at the sight of that distinctive carton in my mom’s Thanksgiving grocery haul.
Where my friends and family would wrinkle their noses and dramatically protest at the mere mention of spiced, sweetened raw eggs, I was in pure holiday heaven. Each velvety sip delivered a symphony of nutmeg, cinnamon, and vanilla — almost like drinking liquid Christmas joy.
My family turned my eggnog devotion into our own holiday tradition, playfully betting on how quickly I’d conquer another carton. But they couldn’t deny the cozy perfection of those moments: me, curled up with my prized favorite glass of nog — a vision if you’ve never seen one before.
These days, my beloved eggnog has evolved alongside me, now enhanced with a splash (or two) of holiday spirits. Which now brings us to the real theme of this story: eggnog cocktails.
What Is Eggnog?
A beloved holiday drink, eggnog is a rich blend of milk, cream, sugar, and whipped eggs. This Christmas season favorite bursts with festive flavors, especially when topped with freshly grated nutmeg. While some enhance their eggnog with rum or brandy, others prefer the classic non-alcoholic version. British holiday traditions brought us this creamy concoction, which has evolved to include modern variations like dairy-free options so everyone can enjoy it no matter their dietary restrictions.
