Skylar Marshai, creative strategist, content creator, and so much more, has captivated our hearts yet again. While Marshai is known for her eccentric style, her recent TikTok, which gave viewers a peek at her extensive collection of Black art, has become our new favorite. Though the clip is brief, lasting just under 30 seconds, it’s packed with unique works from a range of Black artists.
But like Marshai, it isn’t just one note. The clip begins with Marshai and her partner and fellow content creator, Temi Ibisanmi, introducing themselves before diving into their collection. Set to Kendrick Lamar’s new hit, “Luther,” the couple coolly showcases each piece in their home with the artist’s name alongside it.

Pushing the Culture Forward
Aside from being Black creators, many of the artists shown in the video also share Marshai’s passion for highlighting Black culture. For example, the first painting is by Seattle-based visionary artist Cristina Martinez, who frequently draws inspiration from her Black and Mexican heritage. A bit further into the video, we see works by photographer Noémie-Marguerite, who has captured Black creatives like Issa Rae and Joey Bada$$.
Of course, there were paintings and art prints of all sizes, but the video also showed the couple’s love of design with the sculptural works they have in their home. The tabletop sculptures by Maya Beverly are a beautiful display of color and old-world design.
Marshai is always at the forefront of creativity, and this peek into her art collection is just another example of how she moves the culture forward with her work. Seeing the couple’s extensive collection against bold colors and contemporary furniture was a breath of fresh air for design lovers. If you’ve been interested in adding new artwork to your home or simply starting from scratch, Marshai’s home collection is a great place to start.
