It’d be redundant to say that keeping seasonal decor out months after the season is long overdue.Even if your seasonal decor isn’t as obvious as a Christmas tree, string lights and other small decorative items need to be taken down, too. It’s likely that one of the clocks in your home didn’t change on its own. This could be your microwave clock, a small gadget, or even the clock in your car. Thoroughly check each clock in your home to make sure you’re setting them forward for the correct times.

Unclog your gutters.

During the winter months, your gutters and downspouts can become cluttered with debris. Leaves, twig, and more can get stuck and accumulate in your gutter. This can prevent proper drainage and even cause damage to your roof. Now that Spring is here, you can give your gutters a good clean without the worry of cold temperatures and it getting clogged again. While you’re at it, you should also double check how secure your gutters and downspouts are to your home.

Grilling season is officially here. Preparing your grill allows you a head start to the fun summer gatherings to come. Depending on the type of grill, there are different things to check and look out for. If you have a charcoal grill, clean out ash and grease residue. Gas grill owners must inspect the burner and make sure all hose and connections are secure. Keep in mind to make this cleaning a habit.

Test smoke detectors and carbon monoxide detectors.

By testing your detectors, you can ensure they’re working properly. Check the batteries to see if they need to be changed. If your detectors have been in use for over 10 years, consider replacing the entire detector.

Inspect roofing.

Winter weather can be a huge challenge when it comes to your roofing. Causing damage and disrupting the home structure, winter storms are the culprit to the new cracks in your home. Now is the time to inspect the roof. Keep an eye out for missing, loose, and damaged shingles.

Don’t forget indoor cleaning, too.

Indoor cleanings and inspections are just as important as outdoor. While the list can grow to be long, add these few tasks to your list to ensure your interior looks just as good as the exterior of your home:

  • Dust the ceiling fans, cupboards, window frames, and vacuum.
  • Wipe down and seal your windows to secure any new cracks.
  • Get your air condition serviced.
  • Inspect your sink and bath.
  • Clean wood and vinyl blinds.
  • Wash your curtain drapes.
