Snoop Dogg is one of the most iconic rappers in the game and has a long history of dropping hits that reflect the culture. He was born Cordozar Calvin Broadus Jr. in 1971, but has certainly demonstrated an impressive come up in terms of his identity and life trajectory in the decades since. Broadus had humble beginnings, so his lifestyle has been majorly influenced by the aesthetics of rap and West Coast Black culture. Although he’s gone from glistening chains and video vixens to being one of the best parts of the Paris Olympics, he’s still the same fun-filled family man while at home with his wife and kids.

At 53 years old, Broadus continues to pop out at international events, which may have fans wondering where he travels from. Does his home decor style match his rap persona? Where does Snoop Dogg live? Here’s what we know about the home of this rapper who is seemingly always on the move.

The D-O Double G’s Starter Home in Claremont

In 1994, just as his career was starting, Snoop Dogg bought his first (known) home. As House Beautiful reports, the success of his features with Dr. Dre in 1992 finally started to pay off. So he purchased a home in Claremont, California for $660,000. This lavish property was a far cry from anywhere the artist had lived before, but it was just the beginning. The Mediterranean-style home was a spacious and exclusive property. It had 3,700 square feet of space and plenty of amenities for a young shot caller to enjoy. The property came with a pool, jacuzzi and a basketball court.

With five bedrooms and three and a half bathrooms, it was even lavish enough to make it on the famous “MTV Cribs” show. In the episode, Snoop Dogg called the home “The Dogg House”, but it really was a charming family home. It was embellished with Black art and even had a family-friendly entertainment center for his kids. Right in the center of the fireplace was his 1995 American Music Award for Favorite Rap/Hip Hop Artist, which was his favorite at the time. He even set up a decked-out home studio to better mix his personal and professional life, in true Libra fashion.

But even with his jump in tax brackets, he wasn’t changing who he was to keep up with the Joneses. As he said himself, “I bring that ghetto environment out here to this nice neighborhood […] I need to have a place like this where I can just relax.” He definitely made himself comfortable in this Claremont home, but eventually it was time to move on. Per Elle Decor’s reports, in 2007, the rapper sold the home for $1.83 million, which obviously was a major profit.

53-Year-Old Has Lived in the Same West Coast Home Since 1998

In 1998, the rapper decided it was time to upgrade his home. With his career reaching new heights, the move made sense. His current home is located in the eastern part of Los Angeles County. It is in an area that is far more private and ideal for a more laid-back lifestyle. More specifically, it is located in a gated suburb of the city of Diamond Bar. This community may be a quieter hideaway, but it is still a highly coveted and lavish locale, even to this day.

Back in the day when he purchased the home, which was built in 1977, he dropped $720,000, according to House Beautiful. That price tag might have been on the higher end then, but it has appreciated in value. All its impressive features and the ideal location has made it a steal. The 3,808-square-foot property has four bedrooms and four bathrooms and offers great privacy.

Since Snoop Dogg has moved into this home with his family, he has been quite private about his residence. But he has invested more into it, seemingly because he wants it to be his forever home. As a result, he tried to give the property a major makeover, but ran into obstacles along the way.

As a result of poor work being done in a renovation, he sued his contractor in 2018 for $500,000, per The Blast. This headline-making situation is rumored to have been settled since then. But unfortunately, details haven’t been disclosed. So, he may have no plans of putting it back on the market, but he for sure will be making changes.

Rapper’s Other Real Estate Moves

While Snoop Dogg has stayed put in his family home for years, he has acquired other properties too. As House Beautiful details, he owns a spaceship-inspired recording studio in Inglewood. Known as The Compound, this diverse creative space contains three recording studios, a dance studio, and even a full-sized basketball court.

In addition to that, there’s a sound stage, casino and game room in the 20,000-square foot building. Unlike with his personal home, Snoop has been open about this property. Him and his wife Shante Broadus even recently gave W Magazine a sneak peek of his classic car collection, which he partially showcases there. But overall, Snoop Dogg’s real estate journey has been a relatively simple one. He’s put down roots and lived a family-oriented lifestyle in recent years.
