When it comes to forecasting color trends, most paint brands focus on the hues they think will dominate the year ahead. But Sherwin-Williams is flipping the narrative—for the second year in a row—by shining a light on the shade that gets the least love.
This year, that shade is Radiant Lilac SW 0074, a vibrant, dreamy lavender selected as The Loneliest Color™ of 2025. It’s the least tinted paint in the brand’s expansive catalog, meaning it was the shade least often mixed and purchased by customers. In the paint world, tinted refers to the process of adding color to a neutral paint base to create a final hue. If a color isn’t requested, it doesn’t get tinted—and Radiant Lilac was quietly overlooked.
To bring it out of hiding, Sherwin-Williams tapped two major cultural forces: Harlem style icon Dapper Dan and WNBA rookie Paige Bueckers, the No. 1 draft pick for the Dallas Wings and a rising star in women’s basketball.
“When it comes to how I express myself, I always stay true to me,” Bueckers said in a statement. “I love Radiant Lilac for the quiet confidence it conveys.”
Bueckers debuted a custom tracksuit designed by Dapper Dan in the lilac hue during her first professional tunnel walk in her hometown of Minneapolis, where the campaign was revealed ahead of a matchup against the Lynx.
The look blends Radiant Lilac with muted purples, ivory, and Cavern Clay SW 7701, a rich, earthy tone that adds dimension to the seams and cuffs. Western-inspired details on the drawstrings and pants subtly nod to her new home in Dallas, while the overall palette delivers sophistication with edge.
Dapper Dan’s Second Season
Dapper Dan is no stranger to reinvention. This marks his second year collaborating with Sherwin-Williams as creative director for The Loneliest Color™ campaign. Last year, he helped revive Kingdom Gold SW 6698, and this time around, he’s extending the message with a focus on individuality and visibility, especially within women’s sports.
“Paige is already breaking barriers,” Dapper Dan said in a statement. “The look we created for her debut tunnel walk celebrates the next generation of trailblazers. Everyone should be proud of who they are—embrace it and express it unapologetically.”
How to Use Radiant Lilac at Home
Though it may feel like a bold choice, Radiant Lilac works beautifully in the home. It’s especially suited for eclectic interiors, from mod and bohemian to Scandinavian and modern minimal. Designers and DIYers alike can use it on accent walls, cabinetry, furniture, or even textiles like curtains, rugs, and pillows.
A Chance to Win
As part of the campaign, Sherwin-Williams is offering fans the chance to win a trip to Dallas and tickets to a women’s basketball game. To enter, customers can order a free Radiant Lilac SW 0074 color chip or Peel & Stick sample at tlc.sherwin.com through June 30, 2025. No purchase is necessary.
Whether you’re designing a room or redefining your personal style, Radiant Lilac is an invitation to rethink what color can do. It’s a reminder that sometimes, the most overlooked shade holds the most potential.
