Fact: Baked goods tend to taste better when they’re warm and fresh. Banana bread, bread pudding, pies, and everything in between are all prime examples. When warm, they melt in your mouth, delivering an exquisite experience. That just-from-the-oven warmth only lasts but so long under a traditional cake display. Enter the Velvera Dessert and Food Warmer Display. It’s designed like your grandmother’s cake display but with a technological twist to keep the contents warm and toasty.

The idea was simple and came to 24-year-old Cortrell Winkfield at his home in Kentucky. Cake stands are meant to hold delicious desserts, and those items are best enjoyed when fresh and warm. For most people, this meant turning on the oven to heat up that last piece of pie or popping a refrigerated muffin into the microwave to soften it to perfection. But Winkfield’s vision was much more streamlined. By combining the two, a cake stand and a hot plate, he’d be able to have a warm dessert, pastry, or slice of bread at any time.

After rigorous testing, Winkfield’s vision came to fruition. The Velvera Dessert and Food Warmer Display features an elegant design with a premium wood base and a clear dome to showcase its contents. It’s sophisticated and timeless, but the tech inside is the real star. The surface of the base is covered with a black hot plate that keeps the items warm, while the touch controls, located on the stand’s base, allow you to choose a temperature best suited to keeping your dessert warm. Even the digital display was thoughtfully crafted to make it easy to adjust the temperature degree by degree. Think of it as an elevated version of the cake stands you grew up with. It’s stylish and functional, and is as ideal for homes as it is for hotels and office spaces.

Winkfield’s invention is the first of its kind and currently comes in two sizes tailored to traditional dishes. The 9.65-inch size is best for pies and cakes, while the 12-inch option is great for storing larger baked goods. It’s currently available for pre-order online with plans to ship later this year in October 2025. While production is already in place, the young inventor hasn’t been shy about his process. What started as a dream and a note in his iPhone became a reality, and he’s planning to expand with the right investors. For now, you can pre-order your Velvera Dessert and Food Warmer Display.
