Barbie Dreamhouse Challenge is a new reality TV series that follows eight HGTV stars and a Food Network chef as they compete to create the ultimate Barbie Dreamhouse. The series, which is separated into four parts, is hosted by supermodel Ashley Graham.
The HGTV competition is set to highlight an array of Barbie-theme interior designs. This includes a dance floor that lights up or even a hat carousel in Barbie’s closet.
“To pull this off, we’ve assembled the biggest group of renovation stars ever on HGTV to create a real-life fully functioning Barbie Dreamhouse,” said Graham in a press release. “The pressure is on for the teams to unleash their creativity far beyond their usual design parameters to dream up a place that Barbie would be proud to call home.”
As a reward, the winning design team gets a donation to Save the Children made on their behalf. Additionally, at the end of the competition, one lucky fan can enjoy the renovated SoCal home with a one-of-a-kind staycation.
Issa Rae To Judge Competition Alongside Top Hollywood Talent
With a glam icon like Barbie as a reference, the competition is sure to be a fierce one. And who better to judge the contestants than Barbie herself — Issa Rae?
Rae, who plays President Barbie in the upcoming Barbie movie, will appear as a guest judge for the new reality series. She will be part of a panel of judges that includes celebrity designer Jonathan Adler and Barbie Dreamhouse expert Tiffany Brooks.
Together, the panel of judges will critique the competition, which includes a dazzling list of Hollywood stars. To kick off the premiere episode, real estate and design duo Egypt Sherrod and Mike Jackson are set to battle against “Help! I Wrecked My House” star Jasmine Roth and Food Network chef Antonia Lofaso.
Other celebrity guests scheduled to appear include Nischelle Turner, Marsai Martin, Michel Smith Boyd, Anthony Elle, and many others.
Barbie Dreamhouse Challenge will premiere July 16 at 8 p.m. ET.
