Lionel Messi has made his choice to stay in Florida. The professional soccer player from Argentina has just purchased a home in Fort Lauderdale near the Miami area. Sold for $10.75 million, the Florida waterfront mansion was recently purchased by Messi just weeks ago. The 36-year-old, who joined Inter Miami’s team earlier this year in July, purchased the two-story modern home which was originally built in 1998.
Take a look inside at what $10.75 million gets these days.
Inside Messi’s Miami House
The 10,500-square-foot house resides in the neighborhood of Bay Colony, a private, gated community. Messi, who moved to South Florida over the summer with his family, has been searching for a permanent home in the area and found this gorgeous home with eight bedrooms, nine bathrooms, two boat decks and a powder room; perfect for the athlete, his wife and children.
The luxurious Miami home is just minutes away from the soccer star’s stomping grounds at Drive Pink Stadium and near an array of restaurants, bars, beaches, golf courses, coffee shops and stores. The upscale gated community features amenities such as 24-hour security, docks for boats and yachts, and is near some of the best private schools in the state.
Messi’s Miami house sits on a cul-de-sac with a 170-foot waterfront. Not only does this large property have numerous bedrooms, it also includes a spa, a fitness center, a swimming pool and a three-car garage. With so many amenities and rooms in Messi’s Miami house, it is no surprise that the main bedroom measures an expansive 1,600 square feet.
According to Compass.com, property taxes on this Miami mansion are estimated to be $83,400 per year with HOA fees sitting at $500 a month. Bay Colony homes typically start at $2 million and can go upwards of $20 million or more.
A Designer Kitchen Fit for a Soccer King
The kitchen in Lionel Messi’s new Miami mansion is every chef’s dream. This large Italian kitchen includes large wood cabinets, top-notch kitchen appliances, under-cabinet lighting, a dining area and a kitchen island that seats six people. Designed by Lori Morris, Messi’s home features unique, eclectic and thought-out pieces that make the mansion luxurious and serene. Donna and Samuel Simpkin of Compass and Jennifer Abbott of ONE Sotheby’s International Realty helped make Messi’s dream of purchasing this home a reality.
Inside Messi’s Miami home, the living room showcases gorgeous waterfront views of the backyard pool and ocean. The luxury residence also features double front doors in the entryway, porcelain tile flooring, glass and gold light fixtures and large glass windows. The eight-bedroom property has unique character features such as natural lighting, gold-detailed wallpaper, unique animal-like decor and charcoal velvet wall panels.
Messi’s Mansion: One of Many?
Second on the list of this year’s highest-paid athletes, making over $130 million, this is not the only place the Inter Miami CF superstar lays his head. Messi also has a property at Sunny Isles Beach in Florida, a $7 million estate in Barcelona and a $5 million condo in Miami.
Messi’s Miami house is a modern Florida home surrounded by palm trees and has a coastal Mediterranean style.
