As someone who enjoys all aspects of lifestyle content, watching “Queer Eye” is a treat. From beauty to fashion, food, and home, it captures all of my interests and wraps them up in a new heartfelt story every episode. This season’s shake-up, with Jeremiah Brent joining The Fab 5 as the new home designer, was one for the books.

It’s no secret that the interior design team carries the show—because, let’s face it, who wouldn’t want to have their home completely renovated to fit their needs and decorated like a beautiful spread in a magazine in just one week? But Brent took things to the next level in season 9, and fans (including me) were glued to Netflix to see what jaw-dropping design he would unveil next.

I’ve been a long-time fan of Brent, from his early days on Bravo’s “The Rachel Zoe Project” to the HGTV show he and now-husband Nate Berkus shared. His aesthetic blends traditional and rustic vibes with modern touches, resulting in truly swoon-worthy spaces. With that in mind, I was excited to see what he would bring to “Queer Eye,” and after binge-watching the season in full, he did not disappoint. Apply Color Theory to Your Space

Color can be a hard thing to embrace when decorating rooms in your home, but it is necessary. Not only does it bring warmth into the space, but it also puts your personality front and center. In the first episode of the season, Brent demonstrates this beautifully by embracing a rainbow of shades for hero Paula’s home transformation. The color palette featured a mix of bold colors with a subdued edge, making them welcoming and not overwhelming.

Don’t Be Afraid to Drench

Drenching is one of the interior design world’s top trends, so it’s unsurprising to see it show up in this season of “Queer Eye.” By now, you’ve probably seen tons of examples on Pinterest and Instagram, but Brent’s approach to the buzzy look feels much more approachable. Instead of covering a room head to toe in a single shade, he uses different textures and tones to modernize the drenching trend. For Nicole’s home in episode 2, he created a gorgeous dining space by drenching the room in grey brick. Using varying shades of slate and stone, and even different styles of brick, made the room look modern and cozy.

Modern Farmhouse Is In

We get it: a traditional farmhouse aesthetic isn’t for everyone. But today’s look is just about country kitchens and textiles. In several different episodes, Brent showcases how classic farmhouse elements can adapt to fit a range of styles. Whether it’s using marble backsplashes in cool tones, large ornate farmhouse sinks, or skirting with textiles in muted shades, you can make this aesthetic work with the right balance.

Keep It Cozy

Applying this tip is easier said than done. Usually coziness comes in the form of a throw or a fluffy armchair. But to make an entire room, not just one element of it, feel cozy requires some thought. In season 8, Brent transforms a rental into the ultimate cozy haven by adding a canopy of fabric to the ceiling and soft lighting all around the room. The result was epic, but it also gave the room an intimate feel that couldn’t be missed.
