You might not feel up for it emotions or skills wise, but the deliciousness will make you feel satisfied all the way around. Forget takeout — these mouth-watering TikTok recipes are what everyone’s cooking instead.
TikTok’s Green Goddess Salad
This dish has been making waves on the app. And, while it requires minimal cooking, the prep and combination of flavors have made it a favorite. Salads are always a solid side dish when the flavor is considered, and they are dressed well. They also give us the opportunity to dress up veggies in a way that feels not only edible, but celebratory. Add in the ease of achieving the dish in just a few steps, and you have what could become the next requested dish for family functions. Here’s how to get started:
Salad Ingredients
Trim and chop the following: 4 cups (0.95 liters) of chopped green cabbage, 3 mini cucumbers and 5 green onions
Dressing Ingredients
Peel and blend the following for one minute: 2 cloves of garlic, 1 shallot, ¼ cup lemon juice, ¼ cup chives, ¼ cup extra-virgin olive oil, 2 tablespoons rice vinegar, 1 cup (0.24 liters) fresh basil, 1 cup (0.24 liters) baby spinach, 2 tablespoons nutritional yeast, salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste
Extra Ingredients: ¼ cup nuts (walnuts, cashews, almonds, etc.)
Directions
Place salad ingredients in a large bowl. Set aside. Pour dressing over veggie and toss until mixed well.
TikTok Fried Beef Tacos
With the popularity of birria style tacos, it’s no wonder that the home cook food lovers made their own version. Birria, traditional shredded lamb, has put a new spin on shredded meat tacos across the board. The combo of a crunchy shell and juicy beef bite with the condiments to match is out of this world. Here’s how you can bring the birrieria home:
Taco Ingredients
- 8 corn tortillas
- 1 pound (ca. 454 g) ground sirloin
- 2 tablespoons taco seasoning
- 3/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 1/2 cup minced white onion
- 1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro
- lime wedges, for serving
- 1/4 cup salsa, or as needed, for serving
Directions
Place 8 tortillas on a flat surface. Combine beef, taco seasoning, and 1/2 teaspoon salt in a medium bowl. Place 1/4 cup of beef mixture onto one half of each tortilla.
Heat 1/4-inch of oil in a high-sided skillet over medium heat until simmering.
Carefully add one taco at a time, folding over the empty half of the tortilla once it’s golden brown and beef is no longer pink in the center.
Remove tacos from the skillet and place on a plate (lined with a napkin to catch excess oil if desired). Top with onion and cilantro. Serve with lime wedges, salsa, and hot sauce.
TikTok Parmesan Crusted Potatoes
You know a potato hates to see us coming! They can be modified and cooked in so many ways that their worth never wavers.
They take on the flavor of whatever is added in the most perfect way, and this recipe is no exception. TikTok’s Parmesan Crusted Potatoes requires minimal prep and a mustard-seed of patience while the dish goldens and crusts in the oven. Here’s how to achieve your next at-home side dish staple:
Potatoes Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 1 (24 ounce) package baby Yukon Gold potatoes, halved
- ½ cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 ½ teaspoons garlic and herb seasoning
- 1 teaspoon salt
Directions
Preheat the oven to 425 degrees F. Add the butter to a nonstick baking pan and place it in the oven until the butter melts. While the butter melts, score potatoes about 1/4-inch-deep in a crosshatch diamond pattern.
Remove the pan from the oven and let cool for about 2 minutes. Stir Parmesan cheese, garlic and herb seasoning, salt and butter to form a paste.
Spread about 1 teaspoon of the paste on the scored side of each potato. Add potatoes to the pan, cut-side down.
Place the pan in the oven and bake until the potatoes are tender. The Parmesan will create a golden crust on the bottom of the potatoes over the course of about 25 minutes.
Remove potatoes from the oven and let them sit for 5 minutes before using a spatula to remove them.
