Fact: Hotels offer a luxury home away from home experience. For some people, it’s the soft and comfy feeling of a king-size bed with crisp bedding. But for me, it’s all about the bathroom and a gorgeous vanity. To be fair, a sprawling vanity is a luxury that comes around less often than I’d like, which is why creating a space at home can be ideal.
While the bathroom is a great place for a vanity, it isn’t the most efficient for apartments and family homes. Luckily, there are lots of compact vanity styles that are fitting for bedrooms, offices, and powder rooms. The key is finding furniture that suits your space and style. Vanities feature three main elements: a desk with built-in storage, a mirror, and some kind of seating.
The basics of building a vanity are simple, but making it your own is where the fun comes in. Living in New York, space is very limited. So, making my vanity dreams come true meant doubling down on its functions. If you have a similar space issue, you can create a vanity in your bedroom and use it as a place to get ready and as additional storage for your go-to beauty items. Or you can create space in your home office, turning your desk into a workspace and vanity.
Whether you’re a beauty maven or simply like a quiet space to get ready, a vanity can be a stylish upgrade to your room. Here are five chic options to consider when adding a vanity to your home.
@craftandcouture Always on the lookout for functional and aesthetically pleasing storage solutions. This rotating makeup/brush holder helps to visually declutter and adds a beautiful accent to my makeup vanity. Most of my beauty products are tucked inside the wall cabinet, however with brushes I prefer to leave them out on the countertop since they need proper air circulation to prevent gross things from growing on them. I was on the lookout for something that would have a cover like a cloche to protect items from dust, but I also needed to be able to easily leave it open. The sliding functionality means the “cloche” won’t take up space on my countertop when I need to access my goods. Best part is it cost less than $20. Comment makeup cloche and I’ll DM you the link. #craftandcouturecasa #homeorganizationtips #makeupstorage #cosmeticorganizer #marblevanity #customvanity #makeupvanity
Modern Marble
There’s nothing quite as chic as marble accents. This vanity uses a classic black and white marble slab as the focal point and simple elements to give it a modern feel. To recreate this aesthetic in your space, try sticking to a clean color palette and sleek designs. Black trim, clear storage, and rustic wood are effortless and stylish, while soft lighting ties everything together and adds a coziness to the room.

Romantic Vibes
Romantic silhouettes give this vanity a stylish and vintage look. From the weathered vase filled with rose stems to the tiny baby’s breath blossoms and the mirrored glass trays, it oozes femininity. To keep your vanity looking modern and timely, it’s best to opt for sleek decor items that align with the dainty aesthetic. A small round hand mirror and delicate reed diffuser, for example, are great for streamlining the look.

Minimalist & Compact
Don’t let space limitations keep you from creating a small space of serenity. This compact vanity has everything you need and fits easily into any corner or small room. From the outside, it looks eerily similar to a dresser, but as it unfolds, you’ll find a complete vanity set-up with a hidden stool, lighted mirror, and drawer storage.

Classic Boho Style
For those who adore boho furniture and the breezy look it provides, a rattan and wicker-style vanity is a nice choice. Take a cue from this small setup that uses green plants, flowers, and fur accents to amplify its style.
Pro tip: Try adding a vintage Persian rug to the space to bring the look full circle.

Mid Century & Contemporary
The beauty of the mid-century aesthetic is that it’s fitting for every room. If you prefer clean lines and Scandi-style furniture, opting for a light wooden vanity with simple fluting is your best bet. You’ll also want to be intentional about styling to keep the look cohesive. Using a large mirror that spans the length of the vanity will enhance the minimal aesthetic, as will simple styling items, like stacked books and ceramic vases.
