Supporters of Meghan Markle have been excited to see her next chapter up close and personal in her new reality show. The Duchess of Sussex has for many years laid relatively low on the media radar, but has seemingly decided that it is her time to get back out there. While she will also be releasing a new podcast called Confessions of a Female Founder this year, Netflix’s With Love, Meghan will help to reintroduce the star to the world. On-screen, audiences see Markle (who both hosts and executive produced the project) trying new things and having candid conversations with special guests.

Viewers who have not already watched the first season can tune in at their convenience to discover a whole slew of gardening, cooking and hosting tips. As expected, the show hits close to home for Meghan, giving us insight into her life as a homemaker outside of the public eye. Interestingly, the mother of two opted out of using her own home to film the Netflix original, instead utilizing a nearby farmhouse for her adventures.

Where Was ‘With Love, Meghan’ Filmed?

Since landing on the streamer earlier this month, Markle’s latest collaboration with Netflix marks the first chance for viewers to see her in her element at home (sort of). With Love, Meghan‘s filming location is pristine and stylish, so anyone seeking out decor inspiration has a great reference point to guide them. Surprisingly, despite her disposition which suggests she is comfortable at home in the series, she really is not.

With Love, Meghan was filmed in Montecito, California a town in Santa Barbera – known for its stunning beach landscapes and affluent residents. It has a more luxurious ambiance, so fans of the laid back vibes in Santa Barbera will understand why filming was done there. There are secluded and luxe estates at nearly every turn.

The home her show was filmed in is no different. This farmhouse, which is valued at $8 million, is a spacious and sophisticated property. The 4,500 square foot mansion has gorgeous views of the Santa Ynez Mountains. Even though the exterior is something to rave about, much of the show is filmed indoors, which is just as stunning as the outside. From the stark white cabinets, farmhouse sink and ample sunlight which adds to the airy feel of the rooms, it is a sight to see.

Why Wasn’t the Reality Show Filmed in the Duchess’ Real Home?

The name of the game is privacy and protection. Given that Meghan and Harry have been through a lot from their time together in the Royal spotlight, privacy is not always a given. So, in the recent years since the couple relocated and moved to California they have likely been enjoying the time away from the media. Finally getting a chance to get away from critics is something that the couple just does not think is worth chancing again.

Plus, they have two young children who need protecting and raising, so it is expected that the high profile couple would not let the whole world into their home. But viewers can rest assured that the setting was not completely fabricated. In fact, the show was filmed down the street from their current residence. A nearby rental with a similar vibe was chosen for filming instead of their own mansion. So it is pretty close to reality.

Where Does the Sussex’s Actually Live Right Now?

The Golden State has been the Duke and Duchess’ home for many years. Since 2020 they have been building a life in California and obviously have grown to love the area. After deciding to take their space to raise their son Archie, the couple bought a 7.4-acre family home in the state for $14.65 million. Soon after settling in, they expanded their family and welcomed a daughter named Lili in June of 2021. But the family surely has more than enough space to comfortably live in their secluded home.

Meghan Markle has previously described their California home to be like their safe haven, further proving how important privacy is to her. The home is located in a gated, cozy hillside community full of other celebrities who may not have taken kindly to a big film crew around anyways. According to Harpers Bazaar, some of their neighbors include stars like Ariana Grande, Oprah Winfrey and Tom Cruise.
