First, grab these items.
To complete this project, you’ll need these materials.
- New or used ladder
- Plant hangers
- S-hooks
- Hammer
- Screws that match your S-hooks

Step 1: Install the screws.
Find a place in your home where you think this DIY plant ladder will look best, like above your bed or dining room table, in your bathroom, in the hallway, or in a sunroom. After, install the screws in the area you’d like the ladder to hang. Before installing, measure the area to make sure your ladder will fit just right.
Step 2: Hang your ladder.
Once you feel comfortable with your installment, use the S-hooks to hang your ladder. First, attach the hooks to the nails you hammered into the ceiling. Then, attach your ladder to the hooks, so that your ladder is floating in the air.
Step 3: Attach the plant hangers to your ladder.
Now that the most important piece is installed, let’s move on to hanging your plants. Use macrame plant hangers to hang your plants in style. Choose plant hangers with a design that speaks to your style and matches your home decor. Attach the hangers by looping them around a ladder step and securing them.
Step 4: Insert your plant pots into the plant hangers.
Grab your plant pots and place them in the plant hangers. Consider the size of your pots before placing them in the plant hangers. You don’t want a pot too big that could stretch or risk tearing the hangers, resulting in a mess. Let the overflow of vines hang, float, and fall on their own. If they’re too long, wrap them around the ladder to fill up empty spaces. This will make your masterpiece look full of life.
