If you’ve been scrolling through social media, chances are you’ve seen “quiet luxury” all over your timeline. From fashion to home decor, this trend embraces subtlety. Quiet luxury is all about timeless appeal, high-quality materials, and a cozy atmosphere. With more than 300 million views on TikTok under the hashtag #quietluxury, it’s clear that this trend is here to stay for a while.
Design experts at Est Est Interior Design have provided some invaluable tips on how to incorporate this trend into our homes.
Keep it Classic
An essential aspect of quiet luxury is opting for timeless pieces made from elevated materials and featuring warm hues. Avoid home decor items with flashy logos and overwhelming colors that can detract from the overall aesthetic.
Keep it Cozy
In our fast-paced world, a key element of quiet luxury is creating a livable, comfortable space that serves as a sanctuary. Invest in quality bedding and decor that contribute to a cozy atmosphere, ensuring your home is a place where you can truly relax and unwind.
Keep it Authentic
While maintaining a unified aesthetic is essential, it’s equally vital to add personal touches to your home. Incorporate unique pieces of decor or furniture that have sentimental value to you. The effortless cool of quiet luxury is best achieved when you let your personality shine through in your home’s design.
We had the chance to speak with Lynette Willett, Senior Interior Designer at Est Est Interior Design, about how to add quiet luxury to your home decor.
Home & Texture: What tips do you have for homeowners wanting to revamp their eclectic home into a quiet luxury aesthetic?
Lynette Willett: Create continuity using a single flooring material through your main spaces. Whether it be tile or wood, creating fewer stops and starts from open areas with flooring will bring a visual calm.
Paint the interior throughout with a single neutral color that complements your flooring, cabinetry, and other materials in your main spaces. You want to provide a neutral foundation for furnishings, artwork, rugs, and accessories to stand out.
Identify specific high-impact walls that are in your main spaces. Use those focal walls to bring in interesting textures, a unique material, or interesting graphics with wall covering. Complementing the materials in your home, including furnishings, is a great way to bring in texture and interest while not overdoing it.
H&T: How can someone maintain their personal design style while tapping into the quiet luxury trend?
LW: Tapping into a personal design style and integrating that into creating a quiet luxury aesthetic can be achieved by bringing in select elements in a deliberate manner. Whether using a favorite genre of art, furniture style, accessories, fabrics, or a fabulous rug design, those can be used to build upon and add to your aesthetic.
H&T: What is a common design misconception about the quiet luxury aesthetic?
LW: A common misconception about the quiet luxury aesthetic is that it has to be void of color or contrast. Adding contrasting pillows on a sofa, balanced with a piece of art that relates to that contrast, still lends to the concept of quiet luxury.
